I just realized that the Lakers 2016 pick is traded to... whoever holds its rights right now. So the trade would have to be for 2017 only. Still good trade in my books. In 2016-2017 the Lakers will be Kobe-less and will have a ton of money to spend.

I am not the commissioner of the league but if it's reasonable trade and not something outlandish I would guess commish Ellis would be OK with it.
