Seems pretty respectable to me. Check out who's one notch below him in Opp FG% at the rim.

Also crazy to think that Gobert averaged 2.3 bpg in 26 mpg, if he avgs 35 mpg does he avg close to 4 bpg?
Plus he's a competent midrang shooter and ft shooter
As far as his mid-range jumper: the jury is still waaaaaay out. He's proven very little offensively. If he had, there's no way he would have fallen into our laps.

Looked for myself, Gobert's OPP ATR % is 40.4 in 82 games played which is WAY higher than anyone else in the league.....Ibaka is at 40.8 but in 64 games
If you are able to get position the charge is actually a much better play regardless of size. I believe Splitter does this a bunch. It's much more manly to block a shot, but there is a chance the ball bounces to the opposing team and they still score. Take a charge and you get the ball and the other player leaves with a foul. There are good situations for both plays.
Centers get posterized all the time as you cited. The play I hate is when guys turn away from the play because they are afraid of ending up on the poster.
By going for the block, successful or not, you make a statement. A statement to the other team that says, if you come into the lane, I'll lay you out on your ***. By going for the charge you invite everyone into the lane because you never took ownership.
I keep forgetting that the Jazz are several mil under the cap. So yeah Johnson makes it all season unless a trade happens. Then most the roster is game.
I don't even think Johnson is the 15th man.
I'd put Cotton and Withey below Johnson. And, even though these guys won't get cut, I'd place Johnson above Tibor and Raul on the depth chart. Those last two may pass him mid-season, but that's where I'm at right now.
