Jefferson Enjoyment

Do you enjoy watching Jefferson play? Do you want him on the team beyond the 12/13 season?

Such a great guy. I really like this cancer, the cancer is such a nice guy.

That still doesn't change my enjoyment level of watching him play basketball. What I thought was more interesting was this link on the page of the article on Big Al: https://www.wetpaint.com/network/ga...&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=FebGalleryTest#2

She really does look completely different!

Hes a poor-man's Kevin McHale who can't pass as well, defend as well, or make critical plays as well. As a bench player (kinda like an Antoine Carr, Bill Walton role) Al would honestly tear it up. He could carry the bench against any team in the league.

Post-work like his is honestly a lost-art, and its nice seeing his up-and-unders every now and then. He's certainly a unique player.

Unfortunately, As a starter, his defense is just simply too suspect in games when it matters. It honestly completely pooches us, and theres nothing we can do about it, other than re-sign him in a bench role, or just let him go. Offensively, we don't have the right players to compliment Al. Our current offense would proliferate if we had the shooters who could make those outside shots and open up the paint. We seem to be headed in that direction next season, but our defense won't change in any sense whatsoever. Is easily my biggest qualm with Al, past his black hole-esque tendencies to control the most possessions of a team.

An absolute homeless, buried in debt, step-lower-than-a-street-bum's Kevin McHale without the post-moves, footwork, toughness and cerebral presence. As productive (although not necessarily efficient) as Big Al is scoring on the block, he still doesn't hold a candle to the skill and arsenel of moves McHale had on either block. I think the rest of your post is right on the money though.

Exactly.
When Al is not in the game, it's like the Jazz run a whole different offense. Ball movement is much better, and usually someone gets an open shot. Just way more fun for me to watch than the throw the ball to Al and everyone stand back and watch Al offense that is usually run when he is in the Game. I know Al has improved on his passing, but still it is like the rest of the team feels the need to deffer to him on O.
I like Al as a person, he seems like a great guy. But it won't hurt my feelings to not see him a part of the Jazz in the future.
Exactly how I feel. I like Al's attitude and enthusiasm for the game. He was genuinely happy about coming to Utah (of course, most players would be happy to escape from Minnesota). But it's time for him to move on.

That said, I wouldn't be suprised to see him stay until the deadline. I'm sure KOC is working harder on offloading Harris right now. And Kanter isn't quite ready for huge minutes. Then again, I guess you could play Favors and Millsap 35 each and that would leave 26 mins for Kanter and perhaps another PF/C to split (someone we'd presumably get back in return for Jefferson).

I don't give a **** if I like watching a guy or not, as long as they contribute to winning. I hate watching Tim Duncan, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Paul but would love them if they were Jazz players because they win. Jefferson doesn't do that and very little of what he does contributes to winning basketball games as he's a reluctant passer, and soft in every aspect of the game. His failure to block out on rebounds is frustrating and my personal dead horse to be beaten is his seeming avoidance of the free throw line. Too many games he either didn't get to the line or maybe took 2 FT's at most. That doesn't cut it for the guy a team runs the offense through. The OT game against the Lakers early in the season was a prime example. Down 1 in the closing seconds of OT, he got the ball in good position but took it up ridiculously soft and the Jazz lost. Had he forced something, maybe (work with me here) the refs call a foul and he wins it at the line or maybe he even gets the hoop. Instead, it was an easy play for Gasol and Bynum to defend and the Jazz lost. There's nothing enjoyable about the way he plays the game and a trade would be welcome.

I like that he is a unique player, because I always find it interesting watching a player who has their own style. That being said, his style can be really boring sometimes. When he is on his game, and he is doing his stuff quickly, he is fun to watch though.

I don't want him on the team past this year though.

I disagree to an extent. If the Jazz ever signed Marion I would cringe because I know I would have to watch games were Marion shoots from his chest like a 12-year-old-girl-who-is-shooting-for-the-first-time-and-can't-lift-the-ball-over-her-head. It would honestly drive me nuts.

Simply being rid of Al is easily the thing I want most this offseason. It's not even a contest.

I pitied, honestly PITIED the Timberwolves when he was on the team. Al has some cool dance moves, but as a basketball player, he is an absolute wrecking ball of ****tiness for all intents and purposes.

just a random thought (I don't know if it has been discussed or if it is possible)

What about a Jefferson for Elton Brand trade? We take on the additional salary and they throw in a pick.
Both teams are in the middle years of a re-build, and are committed to letting contracts expire and signing FAs.
Brand has been a professional and would likely accept a sixth-man role here (we start Favors and Millsap).
I think that Jefferson can help them for a year without changing team chemistry.

Depends on the pick. I'd do it for their 2013 1st unprotected.
