Jefferson FA Value

This article led me to thinking what is the FA value for Al? The fact that the Rockets would consider a player that has not even played this season over Jefferson suggests that his value is not that great in the eyes of the rest of the league. I think the idea of some on here that the Jazz will be able to do a sign and trade for Jefferson is rather unlikely. If the Jazz do want to resign him(which I hope does not happen), I just hope the Jazz do one of their usual lowball contract offers instead of overbidding on him for no reason.

Dallas, Milwaukee, Charlotte,Cavs and even Orlando will all be interested in Al....

Hell if Garnet retires Boston would also be needing another big!!

I honestly think Al and Paul will both be offered deals we will not want to match!!

I sure hope so, the FO is so poker faced though that it is hard to know what they are going to do.

This is what you want from your FO... If they show their hand they get less value...

And honestly sometimes you just have to fold a few hands until you can make a big splash...

Am I right UGLI ??

I'm really worried other teams will want him for less and we'll end up resigning him anyway...

Yes, that is fine as long as they are not resigning Jefferson. The fact that the Corbin plays and relies on Jefferson so much though suggests that the FO is in approval of him. I sure hope they can tell that he is fool's gold.

Someone like the Bobcats will overpay, and continue their losing ways. Sit back, and hope they offer him something we'd never match.

At this point I do not want to do a sign and trade unless there are picks involved (top 8 picks 2014). Jazz are going to need every penny to re-sign the young guys besides I do not want to bring in overpaid vets taking time away from the young guys. With the new salary cap I believe teams are going to be very conservative on how they spend their money.

Agreed, unless we get a solid PG. Doesn't have to be great, just one that doesn't make the worst decisions ever. Thats all I ask.

Someone will pay him 12-15 million..... just hope it aint us

I think he will get more than that. There are three "20/10" guys out there this summer: Howard, Bynum and Jefferson. Howard isn't leaving LA and Phi has said they will do everything they can to sign Bynum. That means that if you want an elite offensive big man, Jefferson is the guy. All it takes is Cha and Dallas both thinking they need him and he will get a payday.

I think he gets close to max dollars (17 million over 4).

I think your brain is still thinking in the last cba.... This CBA SHOULD change salaries some so that a guy like AL will not make more than 15 mil

Bynum will not have the suitors Big Al will. He is a headcase and bad knees. He excelled under Phil but no much since. I wouldn't bother with him at all unless he is dirt cheap.

Who says they aren't? The Rockets? Or someone with a "source"?

The article that I linked to was via Marc Stein and his "sources". The intent of the thread was not to debate if it is legit or not. More to see what people think of Al's value as a FA. If this source was true, the fact that the Rockets would consider a signing player who has been injured all season, not to mention a questionable work ethic over Jefferson, I think is significant. That is because it indicates that maybe the rest of the league realizes that he is a horrible defensive player, and his offensive does not make up for it. Perhaps there will be a team desperate enough for a "star" to sign him at some outrageous contract, but what if his value is falling? Does his value drop enough that the Jazz think they are getting a "star" player at a steal, and resign him?
