Hear me out before everyone freaks.

I don't like Lin for us at all. I don't think we need Asik really either. BUT we do need a point guard and a back up big man.

I highly doubt many teams want there contracts or can even absorb the 30 million combined in contracts for the 2014-2015 season.

If the rockets offer enough draft picks would you do the deal? If we trade them Marvin Williams expiring contract and they give us Asik and/or Lin along with a 1st round pick and a 2nd round pick would you do it?

We don't really need the salary for 2014-2015. The only players contracts that might go up are Hayward and Favors. If we come to terms with them.

Obviously the draft picks have to be worth taking on those bad contracts. Anyone know where to find out what draft picks the Rockets have? They will be desperate so they can get Dwight without going way into the luxury tax.

Just throwing the idea out there to collect more 2014 draft picks. Since that draft is loaded.........
 
So Houston is shipping out Asik, Lin, Delfino and TRob to sign D12.

I like D12, but he's not all that. I wonder if Houston can get a 3rd big-name player.

#1-You want Lin to start over Burke?

#2-You want the pay the Jazz to pay that type of money for a backup center?
 
I don't think their contracts fit what we want to do. We could probably squeeze one of them in but not both. Of the two Asik is more of a difference maker IMO. But we would have to get some serious other assets.
 
From what I understand, people like Asik and view his deal as very reasonable. They do not need to give away a draft pick in order to move Asik. Lin probably could be moved without having to just dump him either.

They're going to want assets to move either one. It's my understanding that by trading TRob and releasing the other tow, Houston has now freed up a MAX salary slot. Asik and Lin would be traded if/when the Rockets could attract another MAX player. I think Houston is counting on signing Howard now and then trying to get CP3 to change his mind about staying in LA.
 
I know the Jazz are only affecting $9 million in salary cap, but I'm not all that into wasting the Miller's money like that!!! I would love the Robinson kid coming over in a trade. Would Aaron Brookes play a backup role to Burke? I like the way he pushes the ball.

The Jazz will be spending 90% of the cap either way, and right now they're about $15+ million short of that. And that Robinson kid already got traded.
 
And the Rockets wouldn't have to send picks to get rid of either, unless they are maybe not taking salary back. Lin and Asik are assets, themselves, and the Jazz could probably flip them quite easily (or be a part of a multi-team deal) if they're looking for something else.
 
Asik as a defensive C starts with Favors, Kanter off the bench, with Gobert as our 3rd big.

Wow.. that's a long & tall, relentless front court right there.

I like what kkk was getting at. Maybe do a sign and trade involving Millsap and Houston. Straight up they get Millsap we get Asik. That'd be nice.

edit: possibly Lin + Asik for Millsap, a future second rounder, and rights to Tomic?

I saw someone on twitter mention the Hawks interested in a sign and trade involving josh smith for asik if Howard signs with Houston. If Atlanta is really interested in asik then I think that happens. Smith and Howard are good friends and Houston would want to move asik with a Howard deal.
