What's new

Jeremy Lin

For me it is always exciting to see a guy coem from nowhere like Lin and Matthews just excell at the game. Good for him. Hope it continues.

That said he needs to work on reducing his turnovers.

I always liked Lin, but absolutely NO ONE could've seen what he's done in NY coming.

That said, it hurts pretty bad that the Jazz were one of 29 teams that totally blew it, and at a position of great need, no less.

Jeremy is a baller. He was consistently outperforming all the Big East players when he had the chance to play them... not to mention he played well against John Wall today. He had been underestimated his whole life because of his heritage.. but this is a smart player who hopefully will find a spot on a team somehow, because he will be a nice role player for years to come... at the very worst, a lot of Asians will buy tickets just to see him.

Just a role player. Man you were way off. :)

hmmm, maybe kicky's insight came from reading the Hoops Analyst blog back in June 2010...

https://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/17/sports/basketball/jeremy-lins-potential-foreseen-by-ed-weiland-of-hoopsanalyst-site.html

...In the case of Jeremy Lin, one of those paying attention was a FedEx delivery truck driver in Bend, Ore., named Ed Weiland, who moonlights as a contributor to HoopsAnalyst.com. Before the 2010 N.B.A. draft, Weiland examined Lin’s body of work as a college player at Harvard and concluded that he might be among the best point guards available.

At the time, Weiland was essentially ignored. Now he looks like a prophet....

-----------------

...In it, Weiland equated the chances of finding a star point guard in the 2010 draft to winning the lottery.

“The best candidate to pull off such a surprise might be Harvard’s Jeremy Lin,” Weiland wrote. “The reason is two numbers Lin posted: 2-point FG pct and RSB40.”

it's an interesting article..

and now, I bet I can predict who's going to win the dunk contest (or whatever they're calling it) - I wonder how many Chinese citizens are going to be texting in their votes :-)

the Knicks are guaranteed to be able to keep both Fields and Lin if they want to. The bad news is that if anyone makes an offer of over $2 million to Lin, the Knicks would have to dip into their mid-level exception to pay for it, therefore effectively nullifying the MLE as a tool to sign a good free agent (like, say, Steve Nash). So they might be in a situation where they would have to choose between Nash and Lin.

Seems like a good kid. Carmelo coming back will eat into his numbers but adding JR (what a punk) to the team should add some assists back onto that.

The lin effect has taken over even locally. I've gone to play basketball at weber state the last couple days and both times all 3 courts had asian kids playing on them. It's not like I've never seen anyone asian playing ball there before but the last couple days their have been 30+ Asian kids playing at all times. I love it. I think his impact on the world and asian community is nothing short of amazing.
