Does Utah have to take Jimmer with their second 1st round pick if he's there? I would think he'd be a great fit for that city

If you know Kevin O'Connor you know that he's the last GM in the league to pick a player because it would help with marketing. He's avoided BYU and Utah players his whole tenure. If they take Jimmer, it will be because they think he's got a real shot of having a good career in Utah. I do think they're one of the teams that genuinely like him, which is why I've had them drafting him in our Mock Draft.
 
LOLZ @ everyone who says that Jimmer is the next adam Morrison... Those two players have NOTHING in common.. the only similarity is their skin color you racists.. Morrison was a 4 in college with no dribbling skills with a streaky shot... Jimmer is a 1 who has range no one has seen before... so stop making these comparisons with him and MOrrison.. or any other white nba player for the matter. because skin color is the only thing him and these other players mentioned have in common.
 
If he's available at #12, I think the Jazz will take him, unless they luck out in the lottery and get Irving.
Jazz need shooters on the second unit. He can be a combo guard a la Price, except his strength is offense and Price's (supposedly) was defense. Jimmer will never be a starter, but I think he will hold his own against backups. Normally that's NOT what you want in a lottery pick, but there just ain't much in this year's draft. Jimmer at 12 is probably as good as anyone else that would be there. At least he's not going to give Corbin attitude and there would be a good chance he'd want to stay in Utah after his rookie contract.
 
Does Eddie house work? What about mark price? Oh wait mark price isvwhite so I can't compare those 2. That removes Steve Kerr and John paxson. Stephen curry work for you he looks half black?
 
I think Jimmer will be an effective NBA player, but he won't have the same role as he had at BYU. I think his ability to drive and finish and shoot deep will get him minutes for the right team. I don't think Jimmer will be a star, but I could see him being a descent scorer off the bench. I think he is going to struggle on defense, but what NBA rookie doesn't. I could also see him as a designated three-point shooter for a second unit.
 
The best comparison is to Reddick. But Reddick does not have a 78 inch vertical like Jimmer.
 
I really don't want them to take Jimmer. I am hoping he is gone before their 2nd pick so it's not even an option. I have a funny feeling they will take him at 12 if he's available.

I agree with you. They are going to take him at 12 even though they know he won't be the best player available. From a marketing standpoint it's really a no-brainer. Jimmeny is going to sell season tickets, at least for the coming season. That will give the team an immense financial boost through the building process.

Spazz, that will go down in the annals of Jazz Fanz hisory. Epic post. That was rep-worthy, but I have to spread some around first.
 
Who would you take over jimmer at #12? If you're going at best player once we get to 12... there really isn't anyone I'd say who is better than Jimmer at #12, or am I wrong? Can someone tell me a player who's better?

Depends on who is actually left. If you want a list of every player everyone thinks is better than Jimmer there are lots of mocks out there. Post a few here and let people haggle over it.

This of course is a tough question to answer, but lets say we take one of the intl players at 6 and Knight and Walker are probably gone. Then i think it would be between guys such as Jimmer, Burks (may be gone), T. Jones (may be gone), Leonard (undersized PF or bad shooting 3?), Jordan Hamilton (good fit for Jazz?), Faried (Millsap like but not as good). So yeah I think looking at it objectively and seeing that we only have one signed PG he is indeed as good as here. :)

Better right now? No. Better in 3 years? Oh yes.
I think it all depends on Jimmer's D in workouts. If KOC thinks it's adequate to get by, he is going to pick him.
