Jimmer! making NAOS cry now

Curry was injured while defending rookie Jimmer Fredette just before halftime. Curry didn't play in the second half and finished with seven points and five assists in 15 minutes.

That was on his surgically repaired ankle.

By the way, I wandered over to a Kings board, and most of them seem to think they should have Jimmer starting as their PG and Tyreke should be move to the 2 or 3. They thought Jimmer was a big contribution in last night's win, as he would be doubled or tripled out by the 3pt line, which left other players open and his guy would not come off of him to double someone else because then he would be open.

Apparently he has a much better Assist/turnover ratio than the other guards, specifically Tyreke. Evans had 7 assists and 7 TO's last night.

Interesting, and I may have to check in from time to time to see if Jimmer can keep that up throughout the season.

I'll keep you all posted, because I'm sure there's tons of you that care.

thanks for the neg rep whoever you are.

I should not have started this thread. I didn't realize how sensitive NAOS really is.

So Spazz, what you're saying is there are teams in the NBA who actually guard the three? No way! Please call Corbin and let him in on this secret the Jazz have never heard.

It's awesome that I'm being trolled by a dude I don't even know. Get over it, ****face.

I don't see teams double teaming at the 3 pint line very often.
I'd like to see video of this if true.

So would I, I want to see how true it is, or if they were just homering.
Maybe I will poke around youtube and see what I find.

I didn't even think that was allowed.

This video shows him being doubled, I'm curious if he was ever tripled out there.
We would have to have the full game to be able to find out.

What you see quite regularly at the 3 pt line is trapping. That is a sort of a double team.

I agree that Jimmer should be the starting PG especially over Evans. Tyreke is not a PG. I have been impressed so far with Jimmer. I think he can be a very good NBA player. My big concern about his defense is as big now. Not that he will ever be a great defender I think he is ok. I think most NBA guards are average defenders mostly due to the no hand check rule. I can only imagine how many more assists Stockton would have had if people were not allowed to hand check when he played. LOL.

Another myth that lives on despite fact (such as the fact that during Sloan's tenure, the Jazz were more often than not above mediaqn in opponents 3pt %).

There's a difference between a double-team and failing to handle a screen properly. I didn't see a deliberate attempt to double-team out by the perimeter.

Exactly. I read through John Hollinger's NBA profiles and it seems like EVERY PG was considered a poor defender by his analysis. The reality is that with the no hand-check rule, most point guards can get by their defenders regularly. The only guys that can stop this are usually much taller/longer (LeBron guarding DRose in the playoffs). The most effective NBA defenses are designed to funnel the dribbler into a shot-blocker. The best PGs can do is cause turnovers, handle pick-n-rolls and make sure they are directing (not stopping) their assignments.
