What's new

Jimmer

Ha ha. Just checked his career stats u are right. Still 9-48 this last year from three. Could be a sign of no confidence and pretty bad. Even for a small sample size

Ya.
And I don't really want jimmer here. It would be a mess.

I still think if he finds the perfect situation then he could be a decent back up situational type player..... Like eddie house was.
Not likely but possible

Here's my tongue-in-cheek response:

*Let people blow by him. If they do, they've got Gobert and Favors to contend with. They can have as many 2pt baskets as they'd like (assuming Gobert/Favors lets them) because Jimmer is coming down for a three on the other end.

*Before you aim to crucify, please read first line again.

Chicago and New Orleans, two teams with well-above average defensive front courts, have tried the Jimmer experiment. Both teams have barely spent time to kick the tires twice before cutting bait. There is no place for Jimmer.

He should re-find his stroke and get to Europe or China before it's too late.

I agree. I just don't want him here and watch homie start threads like "Why don't the Jazz play Jimmer more. " or "Jimmer needs more mins fire coach Q. " That would be annoying

Look a few years back when he got some playing time.
He had back to back years when he shot nearly 50% from 3.

Last year he barely had any attempts. Sample size too small.

If jimmer is on your team and you play him allot he gets a decent amount of looks from three then he will make a high percentage.
He is a good shooter. This should not even be a question
Except if you play him a lot, it means you must really have some terrible guards.

Is Jimmer better than ANY guard we have on our roster?
NO!

Is he worth the max? Keep in mind that the max won't be the max once the cap increase hit, so he might be worth it.

If he shuts his mouth, and does what's told from a 7th man role, I'd be ok giving him a short, close to min contract.

As much as I very publicly was all about Jimmer around the time of his draft, I came to realize just over his time with the Kings that he has no hope of ever getting serious NBA minutes. My belief around that draft was that he could work on his defense, given how driven he appeared to be.

But there are just so many things about his game and physical skills and attributes that don't work in the NBA. Honestly, he'd be a bad fit on this team. We have young point and shooting guards who require precious minutes to develop well within this system. This is no time for a Jimmer reclamation project, as sad as I am for his career and what a good person I believe him to be.

I hope he does carve out a better career for himself going forward than the one he's had thus far. But yeah, I was definitely wrong on him a few years ago and I'll pass on him joining the Jazz, even if we trade Burke and Jimmer's available for short money. I don't think Quin is the miracle worker that Jimmer needs in order to salvage his career and we just can't spare the minutes he'll need.

Let's assemble an all-BYU platoon.

PG Jimmer Jammer Jean Jam
SG Spencer Haws
SF Brandon Davies
PF Araujo
C Shawn Bapradley
6th man Travis Hansen

F this thread in the A. Right in the A.

So glad this is my 500th post. Stared at the bottom, now I' still at the bottom.

I wanna meet that dad

Perhaps that coach resides in Boise Idaho and his last name is Cooper.

I remember how mad thriller was at me because I told him Jimmer would be lucky to have as good of a career as Ronnie Price... Not only would he be lucky, but it would be a miracle.

I'm all for Jimmer being on the Jazz...

...maybe as a shooting coach? Although I think he needs to retire first...never heard of a player/shooting coach before.

From a basketball perspective, I would rather have Jimmer here than Kanter for defensive reasons, but it's close.

From a pure comedic perspective, I would love to have Jimmer here just for 12 months of awesome posts. It would be pure entertainment.

We could use more shooting, but not at that high of an expense on the defensive part of the game.

He would be a good bench player for those games you have in hand and want to just keep scoring and cruise to a win without tiring out your starters. Once you have a lead, you just need to keep scoring and don't need too many stops. What's that... 10-12th man on the bench. 9th man?

Now that I've had a minute to think about it, forget about the basketball side of signing him. Sign him now so I can watch the fireworks. I need an entertaining year.

For that you could sign Tyler Haws as an undrafted free agent and pay him the rookie minimum and save a few $$$
