Jody Genessy Deseret News - Hayward "wants better talent around him"

I think Wade was the only one who took a paycut for them to be together.

Lol OK I looked it up. He never took a paycut, Cleveland just had veterans on the team who where eligible for bigger contracts. Lebron always took the full max on Cleveland.

He took a pay cut in Miami in order for Miami to be able to give wade and bosh what they wanted.

So he did take at least one pay cut and he was never the highest paid player on his team until his second go round with Cleveland.

He was the highest paid player in Miami. If he took one it was miniscule.

Huh, will i'll be damned. I stand corrected then I guess.

I remember when he signed in Cleveland I heard someone on a sports show saying that he had never been the highest paid player on his own team.

Him and Bosh were tied for highest paid player.

The only paycut Lebron has ever taken was 2 million less per year to play in Miami.

I wonder if hayward would be happy with this team...

Hill, exum, neto
Hood, burks
Hayward, gay, ingles
Cousins, lyles, bolomboy
Gobert, withey, pleiss

Two points in the article that impressed me: 1) Gordon has been in Salt Lake instead of Indiana this off-season; 2) he and his wife bought a house in Salt Lake. That's a GREAT sign he wants to stay past next year. I always thought his whole family living in Indiana, the fact he stayed there each summer and did his own thing signaled he would likely look to play closer to home.

Huh, so Hayward has been in Utah all summer, but Jody Genessy has to quote other sources -- none mentioned by name -- as to what Gordon said or thinks? So we have a sports reporter who doesn't bother talking to the player he is writing about, yet will fill his column with enough hearsay and innuendo to create a controversy where none existed.

What a hack.

What in hell world you live in guy? You think you can just make trade favors for cousins and gay? WTH?

That's real money you want them to give up. Maybe it seems silly in comparison to what they make, but I know if it was me I'd be looking at it like that's 4M I have left after I blow the rest. $4M I can leave for my family. $4M I can buy my mom a house with (RIP). $4M is more than I'll earn in a lifetime, and that's what we all think is so easy to give up?

Life is a lot more than money. Something Hayward and his 250-300M will have regardless. You can't put a price tag on selflessness or true teammates or striving toward a common goal, and sacrificing some money to do just that is a beautiful thing. Something uncoomon and special. Something that can create an ultimate trust and love and fight within each of them imo. Something they can look back very fondly on in 10-20 years as they polish off their rings and know it was all worth it.

So, decrease in FG %, 3pt %, FT attempts down (slight increase in percentage) isn't a step back? He made .4 more points on .7 more shots. He was less efficient last year. Like I said earlier, it was a small step back. Probably more indicative of those around him than it is of him though.

Yup, lot of injuries last year and Hayward was a mensch.

Hayward needs to step up, and worry about his own game. At times we've seen Hayward play at a high level. An Allstar level.
There have been times during the last two seasons hes looked outstanding. The problem is he is not consistent(playing at a high level), has never been an all-star,
and never led a team to the playoffs. Clearly we need to upgrade, but also clearly we have enough talent to make the playoffs
now. We've needed a leader more than anything. Hayward could be that guy. I think he is talented enough to be a good number one,
but he doesnt have the fire to be a great one. And in no reasonable scenario do I see him leading a team to a title.

We are damned if we do (build around Hayward), and dammed if we don't (trade or let him walk in FA). We have a lot of talent on the team.
With Exum, and Burks coming back clearly we should make the playoffs. With the addition of Hill we had experience, and talent. I just dont see
a leader in Hayward, Exum, or anyone on the roster. I hold out a little hope for Gobert, but he regressed last year. Too much of our talent is passive
and quiet. Favors, Hood, Hayward, Exum etc. We need some nasty on the roster.

Some nasty is definitely in order, but I will never question Gordon's fire. The problem is that he can't be the only one to step up on such a consistent basis. We need a Bill Laimbeer.

Hayward and I have something in common. I want better talent around him too.

Around "him"?

HIM"

You axe like Hayward is Karl Malone. Kall Malone!!!
I want some player like Kall Malone that is loyal to Utah Jazz who is fighting for us. For us! Not some punk fans they want to surround a Hayward with cut rate garbage.

Karl Malone I pray to you please save us.
