I'd like to see the Jazz go after Patrick Beverly or Robert Covington
Here is a trade I think both teams would consider...
We trade Booker and CJ or Millsap to NY for Kyle O Quinn and Jose Calderon. They do it to get rid of the money owed to Calderon for next year. Jose would actually be decent in a Neto 15 minute a night role. O Quinn is a guy I've always liked. He is the guy no one wants to play against.. Just a big physical MFer and he is fairly skilled as well. Signed to a decent contract for 4 years and is 25 so he fits in time frame wise. Jose's contract doesn't hurt us much because we likely arent participating much in next year's FA bonanza.
Dante or no Dante, Rudy or no Rudy, I think the organization is committed to a playoff push this year.
We won't mortgage our celestially bright future but if we can make moves to win this season I think we will. And I fully support it.
Ya dig?
Thaddeus Young would be a huge pickup.
Patrick Beverly could bring in some much needed energy at the PG position, I don't dislike the idea. He's the kind of guy that I think would build up a good chemistry with the fans.
I would like him too, but I don't think Houston can give him up. I think the price would be higher than I'd want to pay.
Shouldn't be that way but you're probably right about the price to pay.
So does this mean we're trading Favors now?
That was going to be my response. I like Jody as a writer, but last year showed he has terrible connections within the NBA. Jazz are always "active" - that just means Dennis shops the lots, kicks a lot of tires, but always decides to keep what has. That said, he has some expirings and a couple of other assets that he could deal. If we're willing to take on a longer term deal that a non-playoff team has, they might be willing to take some combination of Booker, Burke, Lyles and picks.
why shouldn't it be that way? He's a key piece of good-to-great perimeter defensive scheme, which is necessary to play winning basketball. And he hits threes.
If he doesn't use at least the cap space at some point, then this last offseason is an epic fail. Soooooo many guys were available that could be helping us right now. I doubt there will be any bargains on the market next year with the rising cap, plus we are getting close to having to pay big dollars to Gobert and enormous dollars to Gordon... our great flexibility that DL loves will be gone. Will be a big missed opportunity. Flexibility does nothing for you if you just sit on it.
