Joe Ingles contract becomes horrendous

But you didn't answer my question.

Could be choose to go elswhere if he wanted too?

If he was some weak character flake like haywood, then yeah, but he's joe.

He didn't just sign with Utah because of Haywood. They interviewed him end of season when he was talking about his wife being on the plane to come watch his first NBA game or something, and the clippers pulled the rug out from under him. Then Utah not only came in and gave him a roster spot, they gave him playing time he might not have gotten elsewhere, and Joe knows and appreciates that.

Just from the difference in listening/watching Joes and Haywood's interviews, I believed joe was a sure thing and Haywood was leaving.

Joe ain't going nowhere. Dude has some sincere gratitude towards the team, unlike Haywood.

LOL - Ingles and Hayward have the same agent.

So he got a bloated deal for Ingles for the purpose of retaining Hayward while (probably) knowing he was already gone.

Agent of the year right there.

And Gordo for bestie of the year.

DL has been a net positive - no denying that. But it looks like he got played big time.

i'm tipping Jingles is giving his agent a big fat WTF ?? at the moment.

It's not horrendous in terms of what he provides for the price. It just sucks that given his age and role that he's best suited to be on a contender, which we no longer are. The silver lining is that except for Rudy, Ingles has the only major contract on the team long-term. So I don't think his contract will handcuff us at all.

Why are you disliking his post? He's right. The only saving grace for this contract was the possibility it plays into Hayward staying. This is now an unmovable contract. It's probably not horrendous right now, but it has the potential to become atrocious real fast. The Jazz got played by his agent(accidentally Hayward's agent too).

He might be overpaid by 1 or 2 million(debatable), but this contract is nowhere close to unmovable. The people who thought he was an MLE level player were just wrong.

You're just dead set on tanking out of the gate, which was never going to be an option. The Jazz are going to give players like Hood, Mitchell, Rudy and even Exum a chance to step up their game and make up for some of what we lose in Hayward. At least give them a chance to show they can compete before giving up on them as if Haywood was the only player that mattered.

Depending on how it goes, I'd imagine they might try to dump some players for picks around the deadline, but they have to give them that chance before throwing in the towel. They are definitely not going to lose enough to get a top pick, so you might as well forget about that right now or you're going to have a miserable year. If they look like crap half-way through, then maybe DL decides to blow it up and begin a ground up rebuild, but that's the best you're gonna have to hope for.

Personally, I'm going to be rooting for Hood, Rudy and Exum to all improve on their games, and for Mitchell to have a ROY type season and Rubio to fit in like a dream. Jingles is a great vet to help these guys believe they can win, and I guarantee there will be teams more than happy to trade for him going into the playoffs, if that option becomes preferable.

One thing I will say is that I'd like to see Utah stay extremely conservative with any contracts they give out from here. Good to great value contracts, preferable short term. Don't go overpay for some mid level player.

I'm not a huge fan of the length of time, because to me Ingles came as a package deal.

On the other hand I respect loyalty right now, and appreciate Ingles.

We need a team of people that want to be here. Now with guys like Mitchell, Ingles, and Gobert leading the way WE DO.

Anyone got Jingles numbers when replacing No Heart HaywardTM in the starting line up handy?
