What's new

Joe Ingles

I miss that feeling of excitement I used to get when Joe shoots the ball.
Joe's shooting is kind of an enigma for me. His first couple years he shot decent (35.6%) and then good (38.6%), but despite that I wasn't regarding him as a great three point shooter. I think this is mostly because he was often shooting open, wasn't shooting them much, was passing up a lot of shots, and probably most importantly he would miss badly. Good shooters usually miss pretty close, but it seemed like Joe would miss all over the place when he would miss. So I feel like I was a bit late to the "I expect Joe to make this every time he shoots" club and it probably wasn't until two years ago that I expected that, despite the numbers probably suggesting I should have earlier. He shot 2 years of 44% and I was a believer. Then he shot really poorly to start the season and played catchup all last year. Ended with a really good percentage, though, of 39.1%, but it took away a small amount of the magic. Enough that with how poorly he's shot this year, I'm cringing every time he's putting one up.

He needs a rhythm. He needs to start. Let's end this crap.

Joe Ingles is as valuable as any current Jazz player on our roster! Even though his 3 point shooting has slipped, he is excellent in every other facet of basketball and irritates the heck out of whomever he's covering at any given time!

Yeah it's a lot more cringey this season. I'm surprised now when he makes one.

Seriously, I'm sure the period is just right next to the comma, like on the same key as the greater-than symbol. It has to be there, right? Right?

Joe passed up some extremely wide open shots last game. He was soooo bad.

Joe looks like he aged about 5 years over the offseason. I'm hoping it's just a slump and that he hasn't really regressed this much, but we're almost 20 games into the season now so it's pretty concerning. Shooting just 35% and 28.5% from 3.

Not aged. ... he’s like a blind man at an orgy, he’s trying to feel his way around his new role. Massive change for both him and Mike

It could be both, also. It's not outrageous to believe that his age and brutal playing schedule the last few years has caught up to him. I would love to be wrong, but his new role and lack of useful teammates in the second unit would certainly amplify his relenting to father time.
