John McCain is Dead

10 years ago he was supposedly a racist, fear mongering, far right extremist....and called that by many of you playing the pc game of saying RIP, and what a great guy he was now..give me a break.
I personally think we has always been a moron, waffling, vote panderer who betrayed his country. But hey, facts don't matter.
What some of you call civility is also called having no real stance. No backbone. No position.
But, with all that said...naw...that's it.

While I didn't often agree with his politics (although sometimes I did), there is a couple of things about Senator McCain that I always believed about him. In a day and age where many in politics seem to care less about the public good and more about retaining power, I felt that John McCain believed that what he said and did was for the good of the country. I didn't doubt his motivations for service. He appeared to be a decent man who was trying to do his best. And for that, he deserves to be remembered in a civil manner.

10 years ago, I believe McCain let the RNC and GOP get their claws into him and pandered to the extremist crowd so much during the primary that the about face he did during the general election seemed hollow. Thus, I couldn't vote for him.

I remember that. They even stuck him with that ridiculous Sarah Palin character.

I voted for McCain over Obama. I wasn't calling him any of those things and you can say he panders, but I see it very differently. I think based on your posting history as best I can recall, that you are a pretty hard-line conservative. McCain is a Republican who has been willing to cross the isle and work with both sides for compromise solutions. I get that you might not like that, preferring loyalty to party over compromise.

I'm not sure how you think McCain betrayed his country? Are you gonna say he gave up info while he was being tortured? If that's what you're gonna say...naw...that's it, right back at you.

We have no civility. We **** on Dump every chance we get.

Equating people's opinions of Trump with incivility is just wrong.

Not much incivility towards McCain even though he sold out to the extreme right. He thought it was what he needed to win but he screwed up.

I think i will win the nobel price for some sciency ****.

The media is not about consistency in the US. It's more like the Bible-thumping preachers who can see whatever they want in any bit of fact.…. and it's not about the facts, either..... it's about the preachy point they wanna make. Day in day out, year in year out, the media is our conscience, our cheerleader, and our culture. We are what they say we are, we think what they tell us to think.

Before the outbreak of the civil war, our media divided us into two camps.... to the North the media preached abolishment, to the South the media preached States' Rights.... until we were goaded into a useless war. Slavery would have been economically extinguished by the industrial revolution production of farm equipment within a decade. The war replaced slavery with mule-powered sharecropping because the plantations were broken up and nobody had the capital to buy the equipment.

And besides all that, Joseph Smith in 1844 as a long-shot Presidential candidate had a more economical solution to end slavery...… The Fed gov would simply buy all the slaves, and give them their own state on the frontier.... not a reservation, mind you, but a STATE. We should have given the Cherokee and affiliated tribes a STATE to..... they had achieved the level of literacy that would have made a good state...… nah.... our media dehumanized them and called for them to be exterminated. Democrats.

The media goaded us into Imperialism in 1898 with "Remember the Maine", a total false flag staged event done to justify the US attacking Cuba..... and the Philippines.

The media goaded us into WWI..... to save the Brits....with songs like "Over There" and a national propaganda barrage making it out that it was the only decent thing to do. And, hey, the emerging military-industrial combo sold a lot of ordnance and chlorine gas. Good business.

Nobody today wants to see how the Rockefellers, smarting from a political loss in the Sherman Anti-Trust Act, decided to go to Germany and build stuff there. And hey, that dude Hitler was all smiles. American industrialists built the Nazi war machine...… and they we paid them to build our war materiel here, too. And hey, the Rockefellers, Fords, DuPonts, et al were, again, all smiles. And they just created the CIA outta the OSS to see that any American who smelled the rot got called out somehow. The Dulles brothers did the PR, and all was good.

We even got the most compliant WWII general as a Pres, though in the end he squeaked a bit about how we outta think twice about the political power of our military and industrial lobbyists.

So McCain was one the most consistent stooges smiling and supporting Americans dying for whatever useless cause overseas anyone could ever imagine.

I think the Rolling Stone is spot on.

And I don't think our elites are any smarter today doing business with China or Russia, or anyone. We will build the enemies we will have to fight, so international MIC folks can smile all the way to the bank.

I love this historical reference to Democrats.

Today's Democratic party and today's Republican party are not the same as they were even 60 years ago. Using references from the civil war to bag on a party is, well, I'll be nice... It's silly.

And when I say "not the same" I don't mean they switched places. I mean the world they existed in was different and the ideologies they used to define that world were different. As the saying goes, men are from Mars, women are from Venus, political parties from 100 years ago are from a different solar system.

now that his body is cold.

i think i can be open and honest about this tyrant. maybe it will get the jewjazzer banned by a modstappo!

anyways. he knew he was dying, yet he held on to his job, getting paid and not giving the people of arizona what they have a right to. a representative in the government. this guy literally knew he was dying. because he was inviting and uninviting people to his funeral. he could have stepped down instead of inviting/uninviting people tpo his funeral. so he could let the people of arizona choose a senator of their choice. now they have to wait about 2 years for a special election. is that ok and right?

not to mention his warmongering, his mma hate. this guy was a bad man.

the left used to agree. if you watch old clips. the same people now speak good of him.

to the left the only good republican is a dead republican

Watching footage from the Forrestal Disaster is something every enlisted sailor watches 2-5 times. What this video doesn't show is John McCain running along the nose of his aircraft and jumping through flames to escape certain death. I served aboard an aircraft carrier so I watched the video 5 times. I also completed all the extra firefighting training that became mandatory after this happened. After this the saying in the Navy was that "every sailor is a firefighter" similar to the way the Marines say every marine is a rifleman. I can attest to the fact that the Forrestal Disaster changed the Navy in a very fundamental way. McCain should have died in that disaster. He didn't. He survived only to be captured and subjected to torture for more than 5 years.

Dutch, you want to besmirch McCain? You are only bringing shame upon yourself. McCain served the United States as a sailor and as a statesman. His entire life has been devoted to the service of this ALWAYS Great nation. You show me someone else who has given more. I am proud to have served in the same Navy as John McCain. I'm proud of his service to my nation.

He will be missed!
