Jonas Waived

I remember watching an interview (possibly the exit interview) where he was talking about wanting a bigger role and I thought that might be a problem for him if Favors came back. Especially with Jae potentially eating up minutes at the four spot.

I liked him on the team and wish him the best of luck for the future.

When we kept Thabo and Favors, we should have known Jerekbo was the odd man out.

As Ingles gets older, its only logical to run some small lineups with him at the 4. I think O'Neale can play there too. That gives us 5 guys who can play PF. If we needed an emergency 6th option, Niang will suffice at 1/3 the cost.

You let O'Neale play some at the 4 just like Houston plays PJ Tucker at the 4 at 6'6" or the Warriors play Andre Iguodala at the 4 at 6'6".

Its all about mismatches. Not many PF will post up anymore but some will run around you and shoot the occasional 3. O'Neale or Ingles at the 4 gives us mismatch options.

I don't like this. When everyone was hurt during the season he came in and played huge. I'll be upset if we replaced him with Niang. Niang is slow, unathletic, and fouls when he gets beat which is almost every time.

Bad move.

Having veterans at the end of your bench is a luxury few people realize until it's gone. Knowing that you have guys who can come in and make positive contributions immediately and not kill you with dumb mistakes is a huge burden off a coach's mind.

I don't dislike Niang - he has offensive upside and gorgeous stroke. But the question is can he be effective in 3-4 minute shifts? I definitely have my doubts that he's ready. Especially after watching him start so low every game in the Summer League.

The position you play is who you're guarding. O'Neale and even Ingles can't really guard 4s, whereas the players you mentioned can. So no they won't be playing the 4. Also, Iggy doesn't play the 4... like ever.

For you cap people.... any chance we made a roster spot to offer Jabari Parker a mid level?

And I was very disappointed when I read the title of this thread. I really liked Jonas, I think he will be missed.
Not likely, In order to do that more people have to go.

Which players we face will take advantage of Royce at the 4?

Ingles isn’t great when guys post him up and doesn’t rebound well enough to play there... most the 4s are perimeter oriented and Royce is well equipped to guard them and he’s a really good rebounder.

First PJ Tucker is a 4. He is built like a 4 and that is his position. Iggy doesnt play the 4

I liked Jonas a lot, but if it was between him and Thabo I'd rather have Thabo on the team.

Now that he's joining the "get a ring" club I feel better for him. Still hate the Warriors though.

I thought Jonas was underused (and Crowder a bit over). Thabo is better overall, but only if he can stay healthy. He isn't nearly as good as Jerebko at the corner three.

Jonas waived and we waived back

Some of you guys just want to argue. Andre Iguodala played primarily PF when he won the Finals MVP. Curry 1, Klay 2, Barnes 3, Iggy 4, Draymond 5. If you want to argue Barnes vs Iggy, they played interchangibly and Iggy stayed in when Livingston came in for Barnes.

Regardless, O'Neale can definitely play some PF. Not primarily and not our starter, but some minutes.

I don’t want to type out the majority of the 4s in the league. Royce would need a Jae Crowder level physique to hang

Before Gobert came back from injury Thabo was our best player from a net rating standpoint. After we traded for Crowder he was our 2nd best net rating just barely behind Exum.
