[Jones]BREAKING: Jazz willing to engage Celtics in S&T talks: But Gordon Hayward must agree

I'd be surprised if anything comes of this but Crowder would be a great consolation as well as a good fit (considering position, age, attitude, contract, etc). I would prefer Smart/Bradley but both are due for extensions shortly & would likely be somewhat redundant on this roster, assuming Mitchell (& to a lesser extent Exum) develop.

If our approach is to continue to attempt to compete rather than re-group/re-build, Crowder would go a long way towards keeping us competitive. He would bring some of the hustle/energy that we lost when Carroll left. I'd prefer a semi/full rebuild, but we still have plenty of useful players/assets to patch together a playoff caliber roster.

Even if we intend to flip him (or any assets we may be lucky enough to get back), we need all the assets we can get at this point. Here's hoping Hayward & BOS really want that 5th year.

Boston is not going to gift us Crowder. They have no reason to. If we are going to get him, we will need to beat other teams' offers. There are multiple teams that can absorb him and give up a good future asset in return.

Crowder would be a great fit and Boston needs to move him to avoid a risk of a locker room meltdown and their new shiny toy having his jaw broke. Crowder won't give up his spot lightly and would detest Hayward for being coaches bet and everyone fawning over him.

The Jazz FO need to press hard for Crowder, him replacing Hayward takes our damage level from a 90/100 to a 20... We can pick up were we finished up at not waste a second of #27.

That's probably way too complicated for me to figure out every angle for each player, and it probably isnt the case, but could the other 29 owners be that petty towards Ainge?

I would have said no way, but with the Butler and George deals going the way they did, it almost looks to me like Ainge is pissing people off with his negotiating, to the point they'd rather take a loss just to be able to give him the bird.

IDK, apparently Boston was expecting a late lotto for Crowder, and I really hate the idea of giving up a pick that could be conveyed even if we miss the playoffs. I just have a hard time believing Ainge isn't going to be a stubborn **** with this.

One thing though, if the reports are true that Dickward and his agent "immediately" agreed to do the S&T that basically forces Ainge's hand doesn't it? Either Gooberantimensche's camp is lying again or this has to happen and it gives us all the leverage.

He wants to do it but if they say no sorry is he just going to sign with us then? That's his full leverage point and I doubt he gets there. They risk damaging the new relationship by not helping and I'm sure Crowder is already pissed off.

Thought through this and it would actually be just huge for us. The trade exception has a cap hold so we could waive diaw and still operate over the cap. We could use MLE and BAE and still have the exception in our pocket for salary dumps. It'd be worth giving up a pick for but it is probably a PR hit we don't want to take.

Well, one thing about this, is that Haywood could have done something like that in the first place if he was so "torn" about leaving. We all just saw how Chris Paul worked out a S&T with Houston. Regardless, Crowder is a valuable asset and it would be out of character for Ainge to do any deal where he is getting less than he could elsewhere.

Maybe his kid's election actually comes into play here, but I don't think it's a case of Hayward saying do this or I'm not coming to Boston. Guess we'll just have to wait and see how it plays out.

Gordon will have to really dig in here. They could get an asset from another team to do the salary dump. How far will gordon go for us? I mean we mean the world to him right?

This would have been a move that made much more sense before the blog post. Hey Boston I'm torn I don't want to *** rapenthese guys I will come if you give them crowder otherwise I'm going back.

I know that will be tough to hear for Jazz fans — and I really want you all to know that you mean the world to me and my family.

First, though, if you don’t mind, I would really like to just take a moment and express how much these last seven years in Utah have meant to me. Because there’s only one fair way to say it: They’ve meant everything.

"everything" and "the world" ...

But seriously... this is delusional. Hayward is not going to do anything to weaken his team. If we want Crowder or Bradley or whoever we will have to pay for it.

Sadly this is true ... and what assets do we have? They can do better than a lottery protected pick, and I don't think we're in a position to offer anything better.

I think another factor that we haven't discussed is that the other 29 teams in the NBA know the situation Boston is in. They know that Boston has to shed salary to sign Hayward. I'd be willing to bet that when Ainge gets on the phone he's getting lowballed to the extreme.

I see Boston went and edited when news broke

Our man Woj is more sophisticated, has better connections, and money. Let's play ball

I think a sign and trade happens. I just find it hard to believe insiders like Woj and Zach Lowe would bring it up if it wasn't actually being discussed. And it's too convenient for both teams to not happen. I'm not sure we'll get Crowder. It might be a player(s) on cheaper contracts like Terry Rozier instead. But if we get the huge trade exception it's still definitely worth it over getting nothing.
