What's new

Josh Howard has agreed to terms with Utah

There was nothing to reason with in regards to your posts. Just you playing a spin doc and not a very good one.
So far above your head. The point is you've equated doing something illegal with being bad. I think you'd agree that plenty of people have broken the law without being particularly bad people. I'd guess you break the law from time to time. Does that necessarily take away from your ability to do your job effectively? No. Does it necessarily effect your co-workers? No. Does it make you a particularly bad role model (I don't understand how this has any bearing on the discussion)? No.

I guess what I don't get is how Josh Howard's offseason activities, so long as they don't affect his ability to perform during the season (and I'd argue that smoking a little weed and "disrespecting" the flag/anthem/whatever would fall into that category), should make any difference at all (with obvious exceptions...unless you're Karl Malone) in deciding if he's "worthy" of being a Jazz man.

If you refuse to support players who smoke weed or do other "unsavory" things, you should probably stop watching professional sports altogether.

No **** Sherlock. Illegal and bad are synonymous.

Yes. And plenty of people have broken the law that are bad too.

Depends on what I'm doing.

You really believe that "all" cases of breaking the law won't have an impact on job performance?

Does it necessarily effect your co-workers? No.

Yes. Have you ever had a job before?

Does it make you a particularly bad role model (I don't understand how this has any bearing to the discussion)? No.

In your opinion. Athletes should set examples in mine.

1. You should probably look up the word "necessarily", and then read my post a few more times.

2. Illegal is synonymous with bad? That brings us back to the question of mixed marriages, religious observances in strict theocracies, etc., etc.

3. I both have a job and occasionally break the law. My coworkers are, amazingly, unaffected.

Have you had a head injury recently?

Yes. And plenty of people have broken the law that are bad too.
And plenty of people that don't break laws that are just as bad or worse. If rape is legal (and in some countries in certain circumstances [theocracies], it is), does that make it okay?

I'm talking about now and in the U.S. More importantly, I'm talking about things that are legitimate concerns with the Jazz.

You guys are silly spin doctors.

And when it was legal to kill mormons?

The majority of the issues leading to the financial collapse were not illegal.

legality =/= right and wrong.

It's not right and wrong in all cases, but you're a fool not to think that what's illegal the "majority" of the time is considered bad.

I don't disagree with that, but your point has been that if it's illegal then it is bad. If legality doesn't outline what is good and bad behavior absolutely, then it really shouldn't be used as reasoning to say something is wrong. Or right.

Back to the point, if all Josh Howard did was act like a fool in front of a video camera and admit that he smokes weed in the offseason, then welcome aboard, Josh. I don't assume that's all of the less-than-tasteful things he's ever done, but I don't know what else there is.

Either way, he's on the Jazz now. So I hope all of the hype of his being a headcase/cancer is overblown, as are the facts of his sucking for the previous two years.

Actually buddy, I have lived in 4 different states including Boston Massachusetts and have been overseas many times. Youre type of thinking is a small minority and has never worked. Communism works great!!! Also have a Master's degree. Now back to basketball I have already said I hope that he will work out and contribute but glad he was signed for only one year. Wish we did the same with Raja.

He's against capitalism, he must be a communist!

From what I remember, someone made a post about Howard being a great guy and I made some tongue-in-cheek comment about him smoking weed and disrespecting flag and said, "great guy." Then from there it's grown into something it shouldn't, although it's annoying to me that people don't have a problem with dopers when it could in fact hurt the team and its image. I personally want him to be a good pick up whether or not he smokes pot, but I don't want him to do anything stupid that could jeopardize the Jazz or what they've represented in a long time.

Are things ever going to be the same? Ever since Larry died the team has gone through so many changes already. This team isn't going to fall apart because of one player.
We learned that last year. It will be interesting to see how Josh fits in with the Jazz, and in the city.

I drove 29 in a 25 zone today. I know it was illegal and that I'm a bad person. I'm just hoping my actions have not affected any of you and that you can all forgive me. Am I still welcome on this board?

Nuts, beat me to it.

Anyway,

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Darn, it had better be a short deal for pennies on the dollar, because if this restricts development of our talent I will be pissed.

And he better keep his tail out of jail.

Sup w/the racial microaggression, broah?
