That's the best positive I can take from the last month or so from the Jazz.

He actually plays pretty hard. He rebounds like he cares. He keeps balls alive and hustles. His corner 3 looks pretty legit. He runs the floor. He just kind of does all the prerequisite stuff end of rotation guys need to do at a decent level. Doesnt seem to make many mistakes despite just joining the team. Nothing amazing or game changing, but he's worth keeping long-term and I think his impact is much better than Gay's. It feels like he fits and he could revive his career in Utah.

When the team gets fully healthy, I'd like to see lineups with Royce/Juancho/House/Gobert/Mitchell just to see how'd they do defensively. It'd be a huge burden on Mitchell offensively, but all those guys are good enough at shooting to make that a good lineup for stints.

Seems like a smart player. He’s had a bad run of being passed around and some poor performance but he’s been a quality player before. He’s a great complimentary piece.

I've definitely been impressed by him. It will be interesting to see whether the Jazz keep him or not, his contract becomes fully guaranteed on June 30 at about $6.5 million. I really hope we keep him, but I have a feeling we won't.

Yeah, you are most likely right. The Gay contract makes it pretty hard to keep him, but I also expect Rudy Gay might get packaged with Rudy Gobert in a trade.

He was included in the deal because he's effectively an expiring contract. He won't be around next year unless it's on a different contract. I believe he's a better fit for what we need than Gay in the sense that he's playing hard, he's rebounding, and he's simply spot up. With Gay everything seems much more forced, from Quin forcing him on the floor when there may be less disruptive options, to him having more usage. Juancho fits better because he's not a mouth to feed. Also seems more agile on defense.

But, alas, when Bojan is back it will be him going to the end of the bench and not Gay. I think this is a good team. The collective psychology is a disaster and I place most of the responsibility on that with Quin. But we could be way better than we are with the tools we've got.

Probably right.

I've very much been a Royce guy and still am, but the instant success of House, Juancho, and even NAW when he got time does make me ponder how good Royce is versus how easy it to succeed in that role. You get almost exclusively wide open 3 point shots and just have to pretend to try on defense. Royce is like a B- defender.

What?

We’d do better in the playoffs with the following rotation:

Starters/close:

Mike 34 mins
Don 38 mins
House 28 mins
Bojan 36 minutes
Rudy 38 minutes

Bench:

Royce 24
Juancho 20
Clarkson 18
Whiteside 10

I know those numbers don’t totally add up. But instead of something like the above m, it’s going to look more like this:

Starters/closers:

Mike 36 minutes
Donovan 38 minutes
Royce 38 minutes
Bojan 36 minutes
Rudy 35 minutes

Bench:

Forrest 8 (assuming a contract)
Clarkson 22
Gay 20
Whiteside 13

lmao, so Quin the one who made him one of the worst NBA players this season while he was on teh Pelicans?

Did you not read the post? The point is that you don't have to be good to look good in this kind of role. House, Juancho, and NAW were bottom of the barrel pickups and they were just fine when called upon. Says more about the role than the players.

Yes you do. You just have to be the kind of player who succeeds in that type of role.

They were saying something similar in the radio this morning. They brought up his work ethic on the floor and how he's the only player who cuts to the basket and follows offensive rebounds.
