Game Thread Jul 13, 2024 08:30pm: Jazz Vs Mavericks (Summer League)

Added to Calendar: 07-13-24

I knew Kenny would save us… summer league goat

I know Cody's the story of the game but Collier is arguably the MVP of this match. He played an instrumental role and generated almost every point down the stretch that led to our 4th quarter comeback.

So splendid!
I kept standing in clutch time and it proved worth it.
Refs suck
nice shooting by justice
those dunks by cody and Bazely drove everyone crazy!
Met a super enthusiastic spurs fan sitting next to me,and got my first appearance on the screen
Perfect!!!
We’re you one of the 2 fans dancing behind the Dallas bench?

It was hilarious to come on JF today and read all about how Buzelis and Bub are better than Cody then I watched Cody tonight. Couldn’t have asked for a better game from him.
That was what, one guy on each of them? A lot of the rest of us are just noting what we saw without proclaiming anyone better or worse after such small samples.

I had been intrigued with Buzelis before the draft. If the Jazz would have ended up with him, I'd have been a supporter. So I was just noting that he looked real strong (sans shooting efficiency). Love that Cody looked great today, too (with shooting efficiency).

Cody seems closer than I thought.
Closer to what?
Give him two years to add strength and figure out his isolation game.
I’m not sure he has an iso game unless he surges up his handle, it’s not good. It even looked loose on a straight line drive where he tried to go around someone on a failed drive attempt he had to abort because the ball didn’t go with him. I’m not criticizing him, but I don’t see him being the star player everyone else sees. I see 3&D slasher. Those are the things he seems to excel at.

I see him as a guy who will score 15-18 a game play great defense and shoot a good %, and be a guy that takes his opportunities to slash and finish. This by the way excites me. We’ve never had this in a wing for as long as I can remember. Maybe he makes 1-2 allstar appearances like Gordon Hayward.

Don’t go brandishing me as a hater because I’m not I like his game. I just don’t see what you guys see. His handles are fairly weak.

Sensabaugh being last is going to ruffle some feathers, but he can't guard and has some of the worst ball security I've seen out of a talented offensive player. Hopefully he looks different in the pro team context, but the defense is just so bad I have a hard time picturing Hardy choosing to play him over Juzang, who offers slightly better defense and a more complimentary offensive skill set as a 4th/5th option.

Hendricks/Walker are very close and Collier/Filipowski are very close.
