What's new

July 12th, Summer League Game 5: Jazz vs. Pacers *3rd place game* 10 AM ET

The whole team is playing better. I like what Mays has done. Stockton and Neto are running the offense. Burke is more under control and isn't jacking up shots. The man of the hour though is Gobert. He had a nice baseline drive. Two nice blocks and a bunch of rebounds. Gobert has also made a couple of nice passes. McNeal has also looked good overall.

If Neto can't come over this year I would keep Stockton and then bring in a vet. Oh wait McNeal is under contract. I don't know if he is a PG but he has some skills. Hopefully, Burke is calming down and will go to P3 for fitness and then head up to Spokane for some Stockton tutoring.

McNeal is unguaranteed I believe.

Would you call Rubio and Rondo, Earl Watson? Or Tony Parker during his first couple of years?

Well of course Rubio and Rondo both have elite vision & passing... Tony Parker is extremely quick and can finish at the rim at will...

Neto don't currently have those elite skills...

We're talking about a backup here as well.. Poor mans Tony Parker as a backup is not bad.

I don't like his form though.. it's really Rubio-esque .... not a solid shot at all. I do think he needs 1 more year in Europe and really working on that shot.

He does everything else well, but in the NBA if you can't shoot, you're Earl Watson.

Nothing wrong with an Earl Watson in his Grizzlies era as a backup.

I think he's a very good creator off the pick and roll, and I've seen him as a crafty player when it comes to getting to the rim. He's not gonna simply beat you off the dribble, but he has a lot of Nash-esque hestitation moves.

Neto looks pretty good on the passing, vision, and ball handling. But I agree he is not that quick little darter like Parker or Rondo. He looks really good though and is gonna be an NBA player if he can shoot some.

Oh man, I take it back. Burke has come alive! I see him as a Damian Lillard type. Don't you think? He could easily average 20 pts next year as a rookie once teamed up with Hayward and burks.

Not trying to judge him too much here in SL, but along with the speed and quickness issues I don't like his flat shot. How many guys with a flat shot like that shoot a high percentage?

Haha, Mahalbasic just said, "Thank God I play Euro" when he just got called for the travel.
I think he said "Thank god I didn't play Euroleague" as a hidden complaint towards the refs. But was entertaining. They must do more of these things.

Yeah it's just the way Utah plays with the front court heavy offense - you see it just now with Burke passing to the post, and re-posting Mays I believe? That's what we run typically.

Defense is gonna dare you to shoot as the PG standing on the perimeter.

Enter Hayward, Rush and Burks.

ONe thing i hate about SL.... seems players play all for themselves. some of these shots they jack up are very stupid shots.... do they actually think they have enough daylight to make it?.... ***Hate Hero Ball***

Burke is trying to ruin his good shooting before the game is over..... also, what happend to the burke who was pssing in the first half?... i want that burke back.
