What's new

July 14 SL Exum vs Parker 8:30 MT

It depends on whether you see Burke & Exum as our future 1-2 or Exum & Hayward. One thing is clear, Burke & Exum is a hell of a lot cheaper with Hayward demanding MAX.

With Hood's solid shooting it's hard to see him being left off of the starting lineup next year.

Can we just give Hayward the benefit of the doubt that he lives up to his contract and the team excels with him and Hood (and the other wings)?

Get mad when Hayward sucks, or when Hayward's contract prevents us from signing that awesome FA who wants to come to Utah (lol).

We'll see.

He did shoot 30.4% last year from 3pt.

Corbin's offense.

It made sense Hayward's 3rd year to have a post-up centric offense that was slow, becasue Al could command double teams that the perimeter open. It ceased to make sense his 4th year when that didn't happen and all that resulted was Hayward taking shots he wasn't used to taking.

Snyder's offense is going to result in quicker ball movement, more shots, more open shots, and more 3's. I can guarantee Hayward shoots better than he did last year and that his 3pt% will be more inline with his career average, if not higher.

Alright fine - let's just wait and see - it could just be the Ty Corbin curse. (when will u change ur name BTW).

I do feel the fog is slowly lifting.......

Yeah I can see what you are saying about hood and his super consistent solid shooting skills. I mean, he shot so damn well for every game he played in today, just don't mention that stinker he laid against Philly.

Like gvc said, there are 144 minutes to go around. For Burke, exum, burks, Hayward and hood, that's like 29 minutes each. Plenty of time.

Also, what are you talking about Hayward now demanding max? Didn't they already sign the contract? It's not like he's gonna be like "oh just kidding, you don't actually have to pay me that". Don't you "demand" your paycheck after you were promised one?

hayward can shoot guys. it was just last year that he had to be focused on every play. Too early to say hood is a better shooter than hayward after watching 1 game. but I should say that I really like hood

The Jazz couldn't do a sign-and-trade of Hayward to Charlotte, so the silver lining is they didn't lose him for nothing. Now they can trade him and get something for him rather than let him walk for nothing.

Guys Exum isn't unfit, he's been at the AIS for a number of years, they have training every day and have their diets maintained from a young age.

He's gassed because it's his second game in 12 months, like all sports, it doesn't matter how much training you do, nothing substitutes for games, and it will take him most of summer league to get his legs back.

The other thing is the altitude. It's hard to understand, but Australia is one of the flattest and lowest sealevel countries on earth, we are an island, and despite you guys not thinking like it would effect him that much, that thinking is way off the mark.

My Australian Rules football side does pre-season training at the US Ski/Snowboard center at Park City, these guys are some of the fittest ball sports athletes in the world, they would absolutely blow a basketballer off the park without even trying in endurance testing, they run 13+ miles a game on a 185 yard oval field.

These guys absolutely struggle for the first week and half of training, and as I said, they are on a completely different level fitness wise. Their split times for most of their runs are well down. (I realise Park City is a far cry from Las Vegas, but it is relevant).

It will take his body a few weeks of getting used to playing in area's like Salt Lake City and Vegas.

I appreciate the post and inside information. Welcome to the board. Disregard most of what's posted here. Also, yes, it's not you, Utahr is weird.

He is young, it is his first time, and he is getting grabbed by fans, and tv shows, and radio hosts, and reporters, and his family is with him in Vegas, and the jazz need him for practice and film sessions and whatever else. Of course the kid is tired, and it has nothing to do with conditioning, unless we are talking about the conditioning of his brain and body to his new lifestyle ....life is different after the draft.
