Yea, I missed that at first. But then saw the video post. I thought it was an administrative action not judicial. Either way wiping the records and dropping the charges seems crazy. Even if the Chicago police were the corrupt party in this, and charges ought to have been dropped, let the investigation record stand for itself.

I'm not arguing against that. It's a common misconception that the breakdown in the African American family unit caused today's poverty but the reverse is true. Jobs are the solution.

Because nobody should have to work. Everything can be free. Just have the rich pay for it. Hell, there is so much money in the world we all could just stop working forever.

If you tax the rich and give to impoverished the money goes through the market and back into the hands of the rich and we have less poverty. And a better economy. And lower crime.
I'm not sure about UBI but a hard look at increasing and expanding the EITC is in order. If Trump did that instead of tax cuts for the rich then the economy would be growing much faster and stock prices would be up way higher. And it 2ould have cost less and the debt increase lower.

Giving free money to the poor and watching them blow it is precisely why you dont give them the money.
The Rich guy who knows how to run a business and make sounds investments is bankrupted and the poor guy makes a bunch of bad investments, like buying a new tv and taking a vacation. What are you left with? A third world country where there are no jobs, no structure, no hope, no future.
But the poor idea less and unmotivated guy lived it up for a year. Sweet bro. Sounds like a great idea.
Its certainly a lot more complicated than that and your argument lacks any sound logic. But still pretty funny just get the low fruit first.

I've read more about this situation and it's pretty interesting to the point of being fascinating. From what I understand, there's obvious more to the story we're not hearing. Basically, the reason why the charges were dropped because it was so publically known how guilty he was with all the evidence and media coverage that the prosecution thought they couldn't win because of not being able to give him a fair trial. Being too guilty to convict is next level **** imo. Also, I bet the brothers may have changed their story or something with them.
Either way, this is one of the weirdest things to read about since Anthony Weiner weiner / dong pics.
The producers and writers immediately having Smollett's back is interesting too. I mean, they could actually feel he's innocent and has been vindicated, but how many of us would publicly express support for a person like Smollett if they were your coworker? Money sure can help.

Forfeiting the bond, and performing community service were found to be sufficient punishment. Obviously, the police and mayor disagreed, but I don't think the charges were dropped because the prosecution felt it did not have enough evidence. No heads up given to the police was disrespectful.

The prosecution said they believe he is guilty, it is not uncommon for cases to be sent to alternative prosecution, he agreed to forfeit his $10,000 bail and community service. That seems like enough punishment for pretending to get beat up to me. If it were any average Joe we might say it is excessive.
I don't need any deeper a rabbit hole to reason this out than what the prosecution stated. And hey, I read that on Hollywood reporter or whatever it was called so it must be accurate.

You have to keep people out of jail for that.

Im saying you dont have over the goods and services from the people people who created it and earned it to people who didnt create it and didnt earn it. You don't bankrupt the smart to successful prop up the bad decision makers.
I know this is foreign logic to you, but there is such thing as making a bad investment. You can actually waste money.

One thing that boggles my mind is our judicial system and the amount of time people serve due to their crimes/charges and how many people support that ****. "Throw the book at them!"
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for justice, but putting people behind bars for years and years doesn't benefit society. I should say, I'm talking about non-violent, and victimless crimes (for the most part.)
Smollett being charged with in the teens amount of felonies was a bit too much for me.
I also felt that the 16 count indictment was a bit much.
Kind of funny (in a sad way) - the very conservative friend I walked with this morning, when I commented that I understood (to a point) the prosecutor's comment that JS was a first time offender and this was not a violent crime - replied "It sure was a violent crime, by his claiming the MAGA connection, it was a violent crime against anyone who voted for Trump."
She also blamed much of "it" on the fact that we've taken God out of public education. I really lit into her for that statement.

Do you know how much it takes to start a business, develop an idea, etc..?
Somebody has to make the product. Its doesnt appear out of thin air because you have paper.
As much as you lefties hate rich people the truth is we wouldnt be nearly as developed as a society and world, if someone wasnt amassing large amounts of wealth to apply to a big idea.
Im sorry, a whole bunch of lazy people with equal amounts of paper arent going to magically start and run successfully, a TV making plant. Not without some hierarchy.
Me and you cant even agree on simple things. How in the world are you going to get 1000's of people just to magically work together and get things done. Its a fantasy bro.
All you do when you give money away to the poor is cause inflation. You dont necessarily increase the amount of goods and services in the system at a positive value to the people creating things. People need to create something, then trade it for something else created.
