What's new

Kaep

Right. I forgot Americans know everything about the world. Like how Croatia, according to government statistics, has just over half a million registered veterans. Out of a total male population of around 2 million. Brutal war of independence in the early 90s will do that. Silly me, comparing Murica to Croatia.

Here let me help you comprehend what you read:

Hey an important thing you might wanna realize is the close relationship between the flag and the military. - This is the key point!
Knowing this^^ and then comparing the US to Canada or Croatia is kind of silly. - QFT

I see, so why so many flags?
The US military is ****ing massive compared to both those countries combined, is ubiquitous, and has way way more people die serving it than those other places. - QFT. It seems if the flag goes hand in hand with the military, then there must be a whole lotta flags considering it's such a massive military that has lots of troops in action all around the world as we speak

And again (but apparently not enough):
Not to disagree with your point of view of anything, but the flag and the military kinda go hand in hand here. That's important to keep in mind.

This thread is ****ing hilarious.

I especially like the parts where posters not from America criticize (whether you say you're criticizing or not) the way Americans (over-generalized) share their love of country... while doing so in response to how those same Americans choose to feel about Kaep's actions.

So basically, we Americans have too much national pride and/or display it the wrong way.

I think the whole world should sit down in protest of our national pride... and by "our" I mean those front porches with flags or, God forbid, someone wearing a USA lapel pin.

Kaepernick strikes me as a tone-deaf millionaire in over his head. His Castro t-shirt was misguided; but his "pig" socks sealed the deal for me.

And I can't recall him having much to say when he was (at least perceived as) a top 5 QB who had plenty of money in pocket performing as a corporate shill.

But when you're losing a QB battle to Blaine Gabbert, things can go south pretty quickly.

All that did was solidify my opinion for me.

Good for him for exercising his right to free speech. Even idiots get the right of free speech.

RE: flags
Flags are a symbol, it can be patriotism, it can be a reminder that they are thankful for their life or where they come from. It can be a reminder of something they fought for and in some cases it's a unifying symbol (or not ;) )... why is that controversial at all?
Some people like to decorate with flags, some like to decorate with animal heads, etc... meh.

Well said.

I am actually looking at where I want to put a flag on my new place. Part of my culture.

I can say in all objectivity that US has a kick *** cool flag. Why not fly it?

The Brits got a decent flag, I like Brazil's flag too. But ours is the best looking and it's not even close.

I don't have a problem with people having an immense respect for the flag, vets, being overly nationalistic, etcetera, etcetera. Hell, I myself have some of that with at least five relatives who have served. I just find it comical that people sit there on one hand as some proud patriot and on the other want him to shut up as if the first amendment doesn't exist. You can't have it both ways, morons. And let's be honest, if Peyton Manning had sat down to make the same statement (for blacks), we'd applaud him and say he had courage and so forth. I think the backlash shows just how ignorant, dumb, and/or racist much of our country really is.

Pulling the Manning Exemption Card? Somebody has been watching to much ESPN.

If Matt Damon sat down during national anthem the reaction would be same as Kaep.

Like Gameface said for flags half staff I find singing national anthem at every game to weaken the meaningfulness of it. I think we should only sing it under meaningful distress or maybe symbolically once or twice per year on Veterans Day Memorial Day that sort of thing. I think tears would well up in my eyes if it was held holy instead of this PC sing it at every single event ever nonsense.

EndTheAnthem2016

Oh, did I mention Christians should support taking God off are corrupt currency?

What is sacred and how to best honor that varies from person to person.

I like that the anthem is sung before major sporting events.

You sound like a liberal. If we respect everything everyone holds sacred we have no national identity. No culture. Do you respect right for Mexican migrants to keep own language an for US to accommodate? Shall we accomodating all languages equally? Press 1 for English, 2 for Spanish, 3 for swahelee, 4 for a variety of Asian dialects, 5 for terrorist intentions, an so on an so forth.

Should we hold religious holiday for every perceived religion cause someone makes one up?

Maybe desecrating national anthem at every sporting event is unholy to true patriots. Did you think of that? They use it as a advertisement tool not cause they care. All they care about is money. If that is what you support than good on you for giving the benefit of the doubt an enjoying it regardless of the dirty side associated with it.

Personally, I am not an ends justify the dirty means guy. God bless America.

I never said we had to respect anything. I just said what's sacred will change from person to person.

You don't have to respect crap. lol at you being the standard of patriotism.

Well done.

Wtf would you respond to Boris? He's slowly going away as 90% of his posts are ignored.

Also, we're still discussing the appropriate amount of flag usage?

Why not? It's the offseason. Desperate times and all that.

Okay fair. I guess I wanted you to expound as your blunt comments can imply several things.

Here I have read support for the flag an national anthem.
Here I have read hatred for American flag worship.
Here I have read tweets from blacks an whites outrage against the outrage.
Here I have read support for a symbol of freedom and liberty FOR ALL.

What I want to know is why, out of all the above, do you all see national anthem as obligatory at every sporting event? How does this not desecrate the meaning an how is it not indoctrination?

Kaeps pig cop socks are a ****ing disgrace, hopefully the San Francisco police department refuses to work their games.

I recommend this band to Colin Kaepernick for his recent strings of demonstrations.
