Kamala Harris for Pres

What economic policies have benefitted your family?

Agreed. I was just saying that I like that they are supportive of unions because I get more money through a union.

Sorry about that

Fwiw I can't think of any legislation from any administration in history whose economic policies benefited me or my family.

Oh wait, just thought of one. I got 2,000 extra Dollars from the child tax credit from the Biden administration

You got multiple stimmys from Trump

I bought my first house under the Trump admin with no money down and a 4.5% interest rate. Good times.

I've always found the "What does this candidate do for your life specifically" thing to be a weird question. I'm really evaluating my choice based on what I think is best for the country, or, in this case, what is the least crappy for the country.

But for me personally, I'm going to be fine no matter what. If there was a candidate who's stance was "We need to get MT Steve's employer to fire him", but also had an iron-proof path to ending world hunger, well, let's end world hunger, and I'm sure I'll land on my feet.

I don't think Kamala is a particularly good person. But when I weigh what I don't like about her with what I don't like about Trump, and in particular, his ties to Project 2025 (I do not believe for a second him saying he has nothing to do with it - when he objectively does), it's just not a difficult choice.

I have a scorching hot take:

The US president doesn't have a very dramatic impact on the economy. There is some influence, but Congress, the Federal Reserve, and a million external factors that drive economic trends/technological advancements etc... are going to be major drivers of the economy no matter what the president does. And also unforeseen circumstances, like, I don't know, a global pandemic that drives inflation up through the roof.

100% agree.

I’d ask families in red states who are using IVF if the choice of president matters.

Yeah frankly the president has virtually zero impact on the economy as a whole, they can temporarily affect small pieces but that's about it. Tax policy does very little to drive the economy.

So is he complimenting Biden for his house quintupling in value? I wonder if he’d be blaming Biden if the value of his house were 1/5th what he paid for it?
Still waiting to hear what economic policies the Biden/Harris administration put in place that really benefited your family.

What if I wasn’t in a position to buy that house when Trump was in office? Houses are unaffordable now.

Yep
If you would have asked the question of what trump did for me financially then I would have answered in that way.

However, trump is the most corrupt, scandalous, and immoral candidate in history. I would prefer to be worse off financially for the next 4 years than to reward that scummy douchebag with the presidency.

(As it happens however, im currently better off financially than I have ever been in my life)

I bought my first house under the Obama admin with an even better rate. The president doesn't decide interest rates on homes.

Either way, trump remains a scummy douchebag and horrible human being that shouldn't have the support of anyone.

One of the biggest Trump supporters I know is using IVF and lives in a red state.
Good thing for them that trump isn't president.

And if trump were president right now houses would still be unaffordable.

If Biden were president when you bought your house you would have had a low interest rate and the house you bought would have cost the same.

Do you think that the president has a meeting with all things real estate and tells them how much houses will cost and what the interest rates will be for those houses? If so, why would any president choose to make houses unaffordable?
