What's new

Kanter loses 51 lbs in the past 2 months....

I say who cares what he weighs if he is able to move and jump to his maximum potential unless it affects his ability to defend, which everyone on here is projecting. Enes is an extremely strong individual, so if he hovers at around 250 but finishes above the rim more often like Earl claims than who cares. I wager he will not get pushed around at all at his current weight; whatever it is.

I don't see how 30 pounds of fat helps you hold position in the post, unless it is all below your center of gravity. If you are not strong enough to hold off an opposing player at 240 pounds, how does an extra 30 pounds of fat (as opposed to 30 pounds overall) help? If Kanter could keep his position last year, and hasn't lost any muscle, he'll be strong enough this year.

Seems to work for offensive linemen. They fatten those dudes specifically to hold off opposing players.

Linemen lean in with their weight (at least, that's what I recall being taught way back in high school). You do that in the NBA, you get dropped to the ground.

Fatten those dudes? Are they overweight? Yes. But they're still benching 600+ pounds and running sub 5.0 40's. It's not just about simply adding excess weight. If it was, you wouldn't hear stories like these all the time about linemen not hitting their target weight.

n
1. (Life Sciences & Allied Applications / Anatomy) the chest of a human being, esp a woman's bosom
2. (Fine Arts & Visual Arts / Art Terms) a sculpture of the head, shoulders, and upper chest of a person
[from French buste, from Italian busto a sculpture, of unknown origin]

I'm going with the sculpture of the head, shoulders, and upper chest..... but I guess he could be a woman's bosom.

It could be in reference to his hard work, or even to him getting arrested for his 3% body fat.

He was like a tree in the post, unmovable... He might be a better overall athlete with better quickness and explosiveness now but there will be many Centers having 20-60 pounds on him, night in, night out...

Its what I'm worried about. Bynum could not move the guy at all. Hmmm. Guess we will see how this plays out. One Brow is right though, a very=ripped 245 can't be THAT much worse then a less-in-shape 270. Who knows. I would love him to be at 260 ideally, Im pretty sure Sap weighs in at 250, and with DFav at 255? Kanter should be at 260 IMO. But hey, what do I know.

I just hope he's in better shape (I don't really care how much he weighs) and he looks like he is. His biggest weakness was getting winded when left out there for extended periods and he hit the rookie wall hard towards the end of the season. I think he'll have more success, and the ability to actually work on his NBA game, if he can handle 15 - 20 a night all season. Baby steps with this kid, he's going to be good.

And Harpring did not lose anytime to talk about Kanter's weight, it's for sure everyone wonders about the result.

Matt Harpring :what am I hearing about Kanter's weight loss? He's a center, 242lbs? if true, bring back the milkshakes. Nice abs doesnt get playing time!

Unless you want to play QB at BYU!

Not sure I like the weight loss or not. He will play heavier than 240 with all that muscle mass, but doesn't have much of an offensive game to take advantage of any speed gain.

On a side note Valanciunas reported to Toronto camp at 257lbs. So much for Kanter being bigger. Listening to his interview I am not sure if he is really funny or just naive?

We'll see as soon as he plays. But Enes' hugest prob was failing to adapt the game speed. I mean, how many times did we see him only watching his teammate Favors or whoever dunking it or smth else, when he was just entering the scene? Enes was not the heaviest person last year, but he pushed around everyone. It's not the weight solely that makes you tough. Solid balance, strong standing ability and the muscle tissues that support it are essential. I think Enes might have improved them during P3. And trust me, whatever he is right now, is way better than what he was in the Summer League.

I just don't buy this. And losing that much weight that fast is never healthy.

Whatever. I just hope he's better conditioned although I have no real complaints in that regard last year.
