Kanter observations

Wow .. I'm sorry, sir.

I'll shut up now ! Just a politically-incorrect old person. And call me meat-head or something, anything but sir. Didn't mean to jump down your throat, under the right circumstances i might have made the same post. Don't believe he was being Xenophobic but if i thought he was or that it might get a laugh i could have posted that too.

Oh for cryin' out loud, since when does mentioning that you are an American make you a Zenophobe ? Buck up laddy and be proud of who and what you are. Everyone else is, and rightly so.

For myself i am white and an American and a retired and senile senior citizen. Damn that went down hill in a hurry!

Yes....yes you are.

Now he needs to watch Jefferson and learn all those up-fake moves. He's been asked by coach Ty to focus on rebounding and not sweat the offense quite yet. It looks like he's already got a jump shot, and yes, a baby hook, with his wide body, would be unstoppable.

I love Kanter's game except I still hate the fact that the guy cannot take a shot without putting the ball on the floor or at least bringing it down to his waste. He really needs to work on going straight back up with the ball rather then wait around for people to block his shot.

Kanter's best move is the quick spin while on the baseline. He has only used it twice if I recall but its the only move he has that doesn't give the help defense time to help. The up and under is probably his next best move, but he needs to learn to go up with one hand so the angle for the shot blocker is not there. I don't know how well a hook shot will ever work for him. It traditionally works better for the longer and higher leaping centers which he is not. The hook shots he has tried have been pretty brutal to date.

Is Al Jefferson a long, high leaper?

Hook shots work for anyone.

I'm happy enough Kanter doesn't kill us on the floor. Well, he and Favors do good work killing the offense when they play together, but you have to live with the growing pains. But realistically, I can't begin to guess what his upside is until I see something that resembles an offensive game. The good news is the downside is officially not bust or stiff. At his age, that's a very good thing.

the numbers are not cumulative. Do you think Koufos has become one of the games best centers?

Wait....WHAT?

Of course the numbers are not cumulative. What I meant was it only took Koufus all these years for him to be able to rebound at the same rate as Kanter who just started playing this year!

Koufus is also playing against 2nd or even 3rd units so no I'm not saying he's become one of the games' best centre.

Far out.. do you understand anything??? No wonder you've only got 6 Rep power after 2,000 odd posts..

So, we agree that the statistic is not really indicative of a good center. Excellent.

Well, if you say that's the reason, I'll take that as seriouisly as I take that Koufos's rebounding percentage is up there with the best in the NBA.

I think Hotttnickkk makes a valid observation. No, Koufos is not a great center, but he has improved a lot since he entered the league to the point where he is a good rebounder, and Kanter at 19 with very little experience is already rebounding at that level.

Amen to that brother!

I felt like I was talking to a brick wall for a minute there!

Wow Kosta is on that PER rebounding list too. I still think the Jazz gave up too early on Kosta. I think Kanter will get better. He has a strong work ethic. He is adjusting to the speed and athleticism of the NBA besides learning the way the Jazz play. I think what he needs to develop is a jump hook and a jump shot. I think a jump shot would allow him to drive pass guys. The jump hook would allow him to get off his shot inside. Once he develops these two types of shots he could be a handful with his foot work.

Kanter's first-half against the Raptors was possibly his worst-half of the season - at both ends of the court. Late/unaware on his defensive rotations and wasn't running the floor hard defensively. It was encouraging to see him improve his effort in the 2nd-half. That's all you really want - is to see our young players stick with it and keep competing. Kanter has the potential to develop into a more reliable offensive player, but at this point it's an effort=production formula for him.

I missed that game and am very surprised to hear that Enes was dogging it in the first half. He's a tireless worker and has a high motor, so there's no excuse for anything less than a '10' effort ... especially in limited minutes.

Watch it!!! Some of us dont live by how many rep points we have.

Denver likes him. Just extended him 3 year for 9 mil.
