Kanter traded to OKC

Three teams in this trade. Two teams got real players with proven NBA pedigrees. The third team is the Jazz.

You would rather get nothing? How much would you bitch if he walked out the door for nothing in 1.5 years? Or got a max offer this off season that was not matched?

Exactly. We have multiple posters thinking Kanter will walk for nothing and we should take ANYTHING we can get for him. Now we have a couple of bozos thinking we got too little for a player who bitched about his playing time and demanded a trade. Yes, by all means let's hang on to this guy, play him over a guy with a fantastic attitude who everyone but Enes LOVES and is the talk of the NBA (Gobert). Maybe we'll even be lucky enough to have Gobert demand a trade next season if he's still on the bench. Meanwhile, Enes would be in Utah on a qualifying offer demanding a max contract to stay. Kanter is a poor man's Boozer or Jefferson. Empty stats.

sweet we got a first round pick and improved our tank position. anything else is just padding on the cake.

Those numbers are from last season. He's averaged 14 minutes in the ACB and 12 in the Euroleague for Barcelona this year. His numbers are fine per40 (pace adjusted), but the dude fouls A LOT, which should only get worse playing in the NBA.

Plus he's under contract for another 2 years. At the earliest he'll be 27 before he's eligible to play for Utah. Sounds like a BWS destined to bounce around Europe for the rest of his career.

We also get D'Angelo Russell and Wes Matthews/Middleton. HUGE deal for Utah. Could be Hornacek level deal.

Puts the Jazz in a better position to land them but let's not count our chickens before they hatch.

Is there confimation on the picks? At work and things are moving to fast...

Have you ever heard of something called Sunk Cost Fallacy? Please look it up. Where would Kanter go in a re-draft?

I have him going 8th. Probably higher than the selection we will end up getting.

He is one of the worst defenders in the NBA and advanced metrics generally say the worst center in the league.

Kendrick Perkins is plainly worse than Kanter.

Here is the Jazz dilemma: Kanter's ceiling is a poor man's Al Jefferson. You can't win a title with Al/Kanter on your team. If you lose him for nothing, you get a shot at a top 5 pick, plus max cap space. Can you turn a top 5 pick and a max player into something better than Kanter?

Lindsey thinks he can. I'm glad he does. Like I said, this trade could have an impact similar to the Hornacek trade for Utah.

June 2011 join date, bitching about losing Kanter, from Turkey.

Checks out.

My join date is before draft day and I'm a jazz fan for more than 10 years, since the arroyo raul lopez raja bell days so shut up.
I'm not bitching about losing Enes. He's the most hated bball player here.
I bitch about getting nothing you dumbass...

That's true, but giving away Kanter also gives us the cap space to sign a player this summer that will likely be better than Jackson or Kanter, at least in terms of fit for our team. Adding say, Wes Matthews would be a home run. Then you throw in a first rounder and I think it's a good move.

But what's his buyout? Acquiring his rights may give the Jazz some leverage in negotiating a buyout with Barcelona, since they know own the rights to their two centers.

That is probably the best trade in Jazz history. It got us two NBA finals.

I'll take the under.

All true; but Utah has no one to pick up the 14 points Kanter brought. The rest of the season is going to be ugly

Most of his minutes will be taken up by Gobert and Booker. Better defense, fewer points by the other team. With more minutes Booker and Gobert will score more.

Jazz are not losing 14 points per game. They will not be playing with four players on the floor.

Oh, just checked again. Thanks. So nateboz was using numbers from 2 years ago. In any case, we're talking about a player who MIGHT be brought in as the 3rd center behind Gobert and Favors. A lot depends on who we draft. The only real component of the trade to worry about is the first round pick. I'll be interested to see what, if any, protection is involved.

Except that we now have details that show us getting draft picks, as we obviously were getting from the beginning. FO obviously wasn't trading Kanter for literally nothing.

So we got rid off Novak contract, we get 1st rounder, 2nd rounder and TIbor Pleiss. I think this is a pretty good deal. I couldn't imagine we can get that much to be fair. I thought a first was the max we can get. I was wrong. I'm happy with our FO on this one. Really well done. We cleared some space and we will have 20M+ free cap space in free agency. Would make it interesting.

Cap space has never been less valuable than it is right now.
