Kanter watch

He is 17 points, 10 rebounds (5 Offensive), 1.5 assist in just 30 minutes per game since joining the OKC and playing through several little injuries... This trade is really a win and winn situation for both sides...

Utah's rankings post-Kanter are surreal, though.

Kanter's found his lover boy, how sweet.

Kanter hurt so unable to play today. Kanter was getting a lot of the blame (which he does deserve a large amount of) about the other team scoring a lot when it was mainly perimeter defense that was lacking. Well right now vs Hawks it is 68-61 Hawks leading at halftime. That is a lot of points.

I was rather bummed when Kanter was traded but I understand why it was done and I also understood what his shortcomings were. I like the kid. I'm glad he was able to find a home on OKC and continue his bruising abilities on the court.

Still, I hope Enes gets well on his right and left ankle sprains and wrist injury so that he can play his home return game on 28th March.

Exactly a week after. I find it the most epic battle this season. I hope it happens with both sides at their best. By both sides I mean the whole Jazz 2015 roster and Enes.

I want Enes to play in that game. Nothing better than Favors getting easy baskets and Gobert getting easy blocks to put him back in his place.

If there is ever going to be a game in Enes' career that he plays great rim protection, it cannot get better than this one right here.

You ******* Enes! Get well. I have been waiting for this.

Zack Lowe is not a Kanter fan.
The starting lineup, featuring Andre Roberson and the Kanter/Steven Adams combo, is scoring just 92.5 points per 100 possessions — about equivalent to Philadelphia’s league-worst offense.
Kanter has been killing it on offense and on the glass for Oklahoma City — he has even discovered the concept of passing! — but he is completely clueless on defense. This is his idea of rim protection when he’s along the back line as a help defender:

No wonder Utah was anxious to give Rudy Gobert more minutes. Kanter is a sieve against the pick-and-roll. He runs around and shifts his feet, but his timing and footwork are all wrong, and any top-level ball handler can blow by him into the paint. Several teams have already run the “go at Kanter on every possession” crunch-time offense, and that would figure to intensify in the playoffs.

Oklahoma City is allowing 109 points per 100 possessions with Kanter on the floor, even worse than the league’s worst defense.
I think I quoted all the Kanter portions from the article.

I don't know where Zach Lowe gets the allowing 109 points for 100 possessions.

https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/k/kanteen01.html

According to this he allows 105 points per 100 possessions. He also scores 121 pts per 100 possessions. He has the highest net + per possession on any player on the Thunder including Russel Wilson and Serge Ibaka. The only exception is Kevin Durant. What is his per 100 possession stats? 121 pts per 100 on offense and 104 on defense. Almost identical to Kanters. If you are looking at per 100 possession stats and are saying Kanter is bad than you must also say KD is bad too.

lol why are people still going on about defensive rating for individual players?

A player's defensive rating gets dragged waayyy down when they play with garbage defensive teammates. Similarly, a player's offensive rating gets a massive boost when they play alongside elite offensive talent.

There's too many variables to draw any sort of meaningful conclusions. It shouldn't be a hard concept to grasp.

Well defense is really hard to statistically quantify. People use dRTG not because it is so good but because there are not much better alternatives.

I found a video that shows where Enes Kanter learned his footwork on offense. I wish he had similar footwork on defense and didn't seem to be walking on mud on that end.

lol, Kanter destroying Hassan Whiteside. 7-9 shooting 15 points, 4 rebounds in the first quarter.

Kanter on fire against Miami...he has 19 points at halftime with 9-12 shooting.(with an ankle sprained few days ago)

Jazz didn't exploit enough his offensive talent.

It is inexplicable that he was the 4th offensive option with the Jazz and now suddenly he is carrying offensively a team with All-star players to the playoffs.

We can begin to say the Jazz traded him for peanuts.

Kanter looks disposable with McHustle playing so well. Especially when he blocked (Mitch McGary) Hassan Whiteside. When Kanter is on offense, you just don't get too surprised that he creates scoring a lot. When he is on defense, he is pure shame.

Damn Mitch is beating up the Heat pretty bad right now. He's a rookie. They would probably go with him, find him enough because Kanter will get paid a lot and rookie contract will be a lot cheaper. And I have noticed that since he plays with so much hustle, he affects Adams and Westbrook to hustle more. Reminds me of Rudy effect.
