Open question: For a player that doesn't have more league-wide market value than how much he has with his own team, and for a team that is in no rush to get immediately better, what possible reason could the Jazz want to trade Kanter "imminent"ly for?

And the motive would be...?

Change of plans for the future. By that I mean Corbin, FO. Not Kanter he seems to like it here. But he is an emotional teenager and if he feels unwelcome somehow, I can easily see him doing that-ask for trade.

On the other hand, Kanter was the face of the Christmas cheer Jazz Basketball visits that were made to a bunch of hospitals and some other places. (with Trey)

I don't know the politics about it but I don't think a team would send a soon to be traded fella to that kind of event.

Yes, trade people with the sole purpose of trading them! That's an excellent philosophy!

I would recommend dumping relatively unknown commodities for below market price because they aren't aesthetically pleasing. Furthermore, I suggest never trading players that have gained the favor of the fans and organization even when offered something well above market value. Carry on

Because Jazzfanz has a Hedonistic approach to basketball-fandom, without the slightest shred of appreciation for patience. It's most easy to disregard context, and live-and-die with every win and loss. 3 games ago, we were comparing the Jazz to the worst teams in NBA history, record-wise. This week, some are predicting that we'll make the playoffs. Last month we wanted to max Kanter-- this week we want to trade him. Last month, some of us were pissed off with the Burke pick, and wished we drafted MCW/Schroeder/whatever-- this week we are saying that he got off to a better start than DWill, and that he's a CP3 but better at scoring.

This will probably continue for the rest of the season, as well as many years to come.

That's more rhetorical than open, but...

I've been wondering similarly about fan repercussions if the FO decided i.e. Kanter is a 15 minute benchie and traded him high for an asset the fans perceive as low. If you're the FO do you sit on your thumbs?

Calm down people. Kanter is still really young. Give him time. He's a year younger than Favors. He only started playing basketball at age 15. He missed a whole year of basketball at age 18. He's coming off an injury.

PATIENCE

It was an actual question.

How do you trade someone "high" that isn't valued by other teams? What other asset that "fans perceive as low" are you thinking of?

To answer your question, considering I don't know what the Jazz are supposed to get with Kanter, I sit on my hands, but not on my thumb(s).

*confirmed*

Fixed.

I will admit that I have become concerned about Kanter but I'm trying not to be too reactionary. I've stood by the Kanter pick to this point, it seems foolish to join the alarmists when a month ago he was the Jazz's best player.

Me too-- but mostly because it seems like he has somehow regressed in his game. Worse rebounding, worse defense, less motor. Jumpshot seems about the same. Consequently, it leads me to believe that he's either in some sort of very strange mental state, or he's having difficulty coming off of an injury.

There's no time for that. We need to deal him before other teams find this thread.

Seems to me like Ty is running a lot less "Post Up" plays since Trey has been starting. It's more pick and roll on the go type stuff.

Seems to me like that style is a GREAT fit for Favors, but a BAD fit for Kanter.

He seems like the odd man out atm but I think that could change. Not sure what's up, maybe personal stuff, maybe locker room stuff, maybe physical or mental stuff, but something is up. We aren't seeing the real Kanter right now.

Maybe we are seeing the real Kanter.

Damn, Are we a season past "the tank" or less then 20 games into
The 2013-2014 season?

I agree I overreacted to Burks a few games back, but this is freaking Enes Kanter. We are still two months away from the deadline, meaning a whole lot more basketball to be played. Quit overreacting.

Already said this too many times, but dude appears to need *****. Has he chosen to go celibate or something?
