Kanter's Game Last Night

I love how we blame Kanter for the lack of coaching.

Kanter's athletic ability and mobility is not better or worse than Zach Randolph and David West.
Those teams play big. The fact is Corbin has no idea how to run a team with 2 bigs on offense or defense.
Kanter to be successful long term needs to play next to a long player like Gobert and Favors.
Kanter is a PF!!!!!!! He can punish them in the paint and is longer than most power forwards. Is he slower than most PF's? yes but so is David West and Zach Randolph. They are rigid players but when they have a LONG C behind them to help them it makes up for their lack of length and mobility.
We need a real coach so Kanter can focus on being a PF ONLY. So he can slim down and only worry about his quickness and mobility.
P3 needs to work with him all summer. But even if he can't he is still an above average big man in the league. Just needs Favors on the court with him. But instead we will blame Kanter for floor spacing............. No its Corbin's fault.
If the Spurs, Grizzlies, and Pacers can all get in the top 4 of the playoffs with a very similar front court than the Jazz can once we get a REAL coach and not a jr high coach.

Put David West and Zach Randolph at C and teams would tear apart the defense easily. Kanter is no different. Don't blame Kanter for Corbin's lack of ability to play to the players strengths.

Amen!

Dude...he asked you who was a worse defender than Kanter and you listed 8 players. That means that you think Kanter is one of the better defenders on the team. Please tell me that you don't believe that.

Hell, you just said that Kanter is a bad man-to-man defender and he's not very good at help defense (but improving), and you're trying to tell me that he's a better defender than those guys you listed? C'mon...I can accept that he's improving, but I cannot accept that he is a good defender, yet. He has a lot of work to do.

You don't seriously think that is what I was saying.

I was pointing out that you can't just say he's the worst, and then not understand the reasons why he is perceived as being the worst. As a big, every defensive lapse you have is 20x more visible because it happens close to the rim.

I don't think you can say definitely who is the worst. Defense is a team concept. As a team we are failing.

Well we are ranked like 30th defensively in the league, so obviously our whole team sucks at defense right now and that can't just be put on kanter.

about time.. bigups to the post... kanter and burks will be the two to be reckoned with whether they pkay for thr jazz or not. they have both been the stones the builder refused

For the last 6 or so games Kanter has been playing good team defense. When Favors comes back, they should start together to figure out the chemistry.

I logged in in just to tell you that you are right and not the only one to notice. I also wanted to add to your rep. Good job.

Kanter's defense has been improving. So has his rebounding. Kanter likes starting. It builds his confidence and motivates him. That being said Kanter still needs to improve his defense and rebounding. If I was the coach I would play him all game long in the hopes he can become even better. :)

Major fatigue will just set in and he will get worse.

Kanter got tired in the 4th quarter, it was pretty apparent.

He was tired in the 4th, but that's because he's not used to playing extended minutes (and didn't have an offseason to train and condition for basketball). I'd like to see him playing 36 a night though. If he gets too tired, then you take him out. Don't assume that because he got tired the first time you let him play 36 in a while that he should or could never play that again.

I anticipate growing pains with him and Favors when they finally get the green light to start together, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't happen. The season is about letting the team grow together, and they can only do that if they play together. Anyways, their struggles will teach them, and land us a better pick. It's unbelievable win-win.

I already said we suck at defense as a team, keep up. Just because we suck at defense doesn't mean that Kanter can't be the worst. He's one of the few guys who is just as bad in his low-post defense as he is with his help defense. He's slow, has a low BBIQ, and isn't athletic...that leads to poor defense. Although as a team we suck, I think it's fairly apparent to see the players who struggle the most with defense.

Cy asked you who on the team was worse at defense, and you listed 8 players. Therefore, you are arguing that they are worse on defense, or you didn't answer his question correctly.

Did I say that it was just on Kanter? I've already said our whole team sucks on defense, I just think Kanter is one of, if not the worst, defenders on this team.

This isn't that difficult.

BINGO.You Kanter haters must be related to Corbinated, too many bubbles in the head to see clearly.Kanter has more promise than anyone on the team and is the main Guy Iwatch onthe Jazz.He hustles, plays to win.He makes mistakes but give me a whole team with his heart .The coach is a joke and I wouldnt evaluate anyone on the team with Corbinated as the coach.

Even with Kanter playing exceptionally well last night, I still saw people on twitter bitching about him, calling him ***** Cancer, or saying they wish he'd get cancer. Everytime someone would score, Harpring was quick to point out how Kanter is not the shot blocker Favors is. I see people quoting the retarded stat of how we've only won one game with Kanter in starting lineup (failing to recognize that has meant there was no Favors, and thus Kanter's minutes were distributed to less experienced players).

Wake up people! Kanter had a great game last night, and has been having a decent season.

Last night's stats:
25 pts, 60 fg%, 10 reb, 4 ast, 3 blk, 1stl, 2 to

His per 36 for the season is:
17 pts, 50 fg%, 9 reb, 1.2 ast, .5 stl, .9 blk, 2.5 tov

Rudy Gobert is 21,. Kanter is 21. Rudy is not putting up numbers even remotely close to these.

Derrick's per 36 for the season is:

15.2 pts on 50 fg%, 10.7 reb, 1.3 ast, 1.1 stl, 1.6 blk, 2.2 tov

Derrick is 22.

How is Kanter deserving of all the hate he gets? Why are so many people suggesting we trade Kanter?

In the games Kanter starts, his helper is Gobert off the bench. Think about that. Last night Gobert played 12 minutes and blocked 1 shot, and scored 1 point. That is all he did. Should you be mad at Rudy? No. Rudy is a rookie... Who is the sme age as Kanter.

Point is, Kanter is producing, and basketball is a team game. It just so happens that Kanter has started games when important members of the team have been injured.

Bro.. just watch him play. There's times where he's on, and that's great.. but that's the exception, not the rule. When it becomes the rule, lets talk about not picking on him.

Kanter's struggles are directly related to his age and his coach. He's only 21 and is going to be a helluva player.

I have to ask. How many of you are Jazz fans and how many of you are just Kanter fans? I see the same group of people posting and bickering about Kanter's playing time. Or swinging from his junk when he has a good game. Yet never talk about the team or how bad the team played. And they never post when Kanter plays like trash. So honestly. Are you Jazz fans or just Kanter fans. If you're Jazz fans you wouldn't be so blind with your heads in the sand about the reasons why when it comes to Kanter. He's still young but his bb IQ is horrible. But will improve with time. Kanter is my fav player as well. But I'm a jazz fan first and foremost. And I see and know that he is a liability on defense. PERIOD!

He will be a RFA after his 4th year. He can't just leave Utah.

I think he could. When he doesnt sign an offer sheet after his fourth year he would be a ufa after his 5th year?Of course he has to play for the qualifying offer in the 5th year but then he would be free, am i wrong?
