How about just getting Carl Landry or Jj Hickson who will likely be cheaper?
I like Sap but I'm concerned he will be overpaid and make it difficult to retain our young guys and make other signings/trades. If we get Sap at a decent rate keep him. Otherwise let em both go.

Yeah, they're all short so they must be the same players. Which is why Sap will likely get paid quite a bit more than them. It all makes perfect sense.
It seems like it mostly depends on how you think Kanter will develop. If he's ready to go as a starter by next year (or at least a 25 minute a game player), picking up Hickson or Landry would be smart. If Kanter needs 20ish off the bench, probably better to get a real starter not a great third big in FA.
