Kentucky spent 800K on bball trip to Bahamas

Money well spent imo.

Any UK student that complains about this is delusional-- the amount of money that UK athletics reels into that school is nauseating.

That school would literally be nothing without their Athletics program. $800 000 is the least they should spend on their players, who bring them in millions.

And the coach who makes millions should be put up in a room that expensive?

A large portion of those expenses were attributed to Kentucky paying for the lodging and food for national teams from the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, as well as a French professional team. The school insisted those expenses were necessary to keep the tournament as a viable option.

Kentucky must be hot on the trail of some up and coming 6th grade basketball prodigies in those countries.

a coach who has pushed their team to the forefront of NCAA basketball, and definitely responsible for reeling in millions of dollars of alumni donations back to UK?

Yeah, can he not downgrade a bit for the good of the education system?

Thanks Dala.

**** you, Cy. Your vag should be raw by now.

I don't feel the need to defend this, at all. In fact, I think it's awesome. But what the article fails to mention (even though the writer was told), is that the money also covered the travel, food, and lodging of all other teams from France, Dominican Republic, etc.. otherwise, UK couldn't get quality professional teams to play against .. as they wouldn't spend their own money to fly to the Bahamas to get beat by a college team on national television.

I have A LOT of info on this as it pertains to other teams with smaller budgets and who they ended up playing against.. unreal stories.

He's from Mississippi. He doesn't know anything different from bed & breakfast. So don't go too rough on him. Other states, other customs.

I don't understand what the big deal if, someone has the money, they want to spend it, then let them. It's a free country.

i dont have a problem with the players getting to taste some of the fruits of their labors, but how is dis legal?
it aint an even playing field at this point. if UK is allowed to do this, other schools should be allowed to pay their players too.
and this is definitely a form of payment. #loophole

Even playing field?? lmao
No, it's not an even playing field. We have a LOT of ****ing money.
However, it's not an NCAA violation.

Write your congressman. Who knows, Texans are known to kick ***.

Read much?

If we were to look at how much money Cal brings into UK vs. how much of UK budget he spends, then it would be quite obvious how much the dude is downgrading to begin with, and how much their education system is benefitting because of him.

and, fwiw, we have more kids graduating after leaving for the NBA than any other team, ever. Cal makes them pinky swear they'll get a degree before they sign to come to UK as a projected one and done. Laugh, make fun, but Cal is awesome at making these kids understand they need an education, to understand money and finances, and be able to make wise decisions in life, even if they are multi-millionaire pro players.
