What's new

Kevin Pelton says Jazz Specifically Asked for 2017 Pick

2017 is the year of the next lockout. Favors and G w/ maybe 1 year on the books and Burke and Gobert as RFA. They're setting themselves up to add "flexibility" to adapt to the new Collective Bargaining Agreement. Odds are you can't predict a draft class 4 years in advance. But you can predict CBA negotiations and roster spot openings.

That makes more sense to me. The last lockout, they were ready to roll when it officially kicked in. I'm sure the projections added to it as well. Should be interesting if it ever was revealed.

Optionality

A slightly different way Dennis may be thinking about this: Out year picks give Dennis more optionality/ flexibility -- i.e., time to decide what to do with the asset (as part of a trade in 2013/14/15/16?). With the uncertainty in the current roster (and other variables), optionality has value in and of itself.

Let them grow hair on their nut sacks before we start projecting on them as potential NBA players.

That's not the Kentucky way though..They Get em young and babysit em for a year before the go to the nba...If the nba and ncaa ever makes it 2 or 3 years in ncaa like a mlb rule lets face it Kentucky would stink because calapri is not a good coach. Just a slimy recruiter

Kentucky would kick *** if they went to a two or three year rule.

But let's face it, you're just a dickless ratard that has never posted anything intelligible... so I won't explain to you the reasons why I am so sure.

Kudos to you pkm for not engaging furthur, and by not doing so, the troll shall miss this meal

2017 will be one year closer to Hayward-Favors-Kanter peaking. This pick will have potential to be used as Houston used the Toronto pick to acquire James Harden.

It's not about getting another rookie, it's about adding the final veteran piece for a championship squad.
