Key's Pouting

It sounds like Key threw a bit of a tantrum in Houston last night. Here is a snippet of an article in the Deseret News. "If George wants to find real footing on this team, if he wants to be respected in this league, he’s going to have to find a way to channel his frustration in a different way. Because sitting at the end of the bench and looking like he could care less what the rest of his team is talking about is not the way to do it." If he keeps behaving like this he might be moved for a 2nd round draft pick.

Who said this?

He needs to make defense his priority. Has enough offensive tools to work with. He does that and he becomes a bonafide starter in the league. His motor and hustle need to take a leap. If not, I agree. Could be a nice adjunct piece to a future trade. I hope he turns it up bc I still think he could be quite talented as a jazzman

Players can improve maturity on and off the court with time, but as they say, old habits die hard. Key looks to be a prime example of a very talented kid who did not learn the right way and was spoiled throughout his youth career.

I think he still ends up a useful player, probably as a 6th man. But if he was ever going to be even average at defense we’d probably would have seen more progress by now.

He was praised by Hardy recently and do feel he’s improved over last year though this early in his career that’s not saying much yet.

I really don`t want us to be the team who overpays Keyonte on his second contract if he has a good scoring season next year. I have a hard time seeing him being more than a scorer off the bench kind of guy and I don`t want us to have to give him a Quickley-type deal.

Key is a ****ing cry baby. Get as much as you can for him, because in a few years when we have a good team he'd bring us down in our quest for greatness.

I would not object to trading Keyonte
He does seem expendable
Especially if we draft 2nd and take Harper. Collier and Harper would be a nice backcourt and Sexton can play combo. Collier and Sexton have solid attitudes - anyone who is a pouty b can get traded.

For the record, I think we put way too much into this body language stuff. Sexton is “intense” and Key is “pouting”. They both suck badly at defense and that’s what really matters. The problem I have with Key and what will hold him back in his career is his bad habits and ability on defense. You can’t smile your way into becoming a good defender.

I think the pouting and bad defense are connected.

Just hustling won't cure his ills, but the attitude is preventing him from improving.

And sure, this season has been **** for everyone involved, but the pouting is unchanged from all of last season.

I was in Boston this week and went to the Cetlics and Heat game. It was so much fun to watch basketball with teams who wanted to win. I cant imagine being a player on a team that does all it can to avoid winning. I would not trade Key for feeling out of it but I would trade him for other reasons.

Trade Key and the acquired 1st(s) this year to move up. **** him. Dude’s an inefficient chucker. This will be Flagg’s team and no way would he be cool with that. Get Flagg, another higher 1st by moving up. That pick, Collier and Flagg. Build around them. Everyone else is on the table.
