And here's the real thing about AK: Those who hate him do so largely on the basis that he doesn't comport with their notions of masculinity. That was Jerry's problem with him as well. Sports is the last place where you're allowed to shame men for not being cowboys. Even the language we're using here is gendered.
You are frighteningly enlightened. What are your thoughts on cultural appropriation?

Or maybe it's just a blunt statement on a message board that served as a microcosm for a player who was soft. Soft in the sense that he was pretty much a bitch-*** on both ends of the court for the majority of his career including the last few years. He was a shell of his former self on defense and on offense he brought virtually nothing to the table since, well, he never worked on his craft since, well, he's a soft-*** bitch who found WoW more important. Hayward's not the toughest guy but he's clearly worked on his game and his body despite all finding the time for gaming. He is our best player and doesn't clam up in crunch time. AK never did **** and was a *****.

AK game got worse when he gained weight. His game was all about agility, speed, anticipation and athleticism.

1. Who cares? Tyreke Evans shouldn't get his jersey retired either. Nor should a lot of rookies of the year. The award doesn't mean anything. Does anyone really think it's meaningful that he got this award instead of Kevin McHale? It's probably more important that he never was selected to an all-star game.
2. Being the second or third best player on a team that made the second round of the playoffs isn't good enough to get your number retired. Sorry.
3. So what? We're not electing Dale Ellis to the hall of fame for being an early three point adopter either.
4. So did Robert Whaley
5. Don't care.

Darrell Griffith should not have his number retired. It sets the bar too low. Carlos Boozer or Memhmet Okur have a much better case.

Since you care so much...I got more:

Griffith averaged 21.0 ppg in his first 5 seasons as a pro...can you guess what other Jazz players have accomplished a 20+ ppg average over a 5 year span? Hint: All three of these guys are Hall of Famers

Malone, Dantley, Maravich.
