I wore my AK-47 jersey to the game and now I get this news..

From CSKA Moscow:

Andrei Vatutin, PBC CSKA President:
I think that Andrey’s long-awaited decision is the best New Year gift for all CSKA and Russian fans they could imagine. It’s great that we will meet the New Year with such good news. AK-47 did not just proved that he is the important chain of our team, tremendously valuable, dedicated player. He showed that he is a true patriot, a man who does not look for quick benefits, who tries to please basketball fans all over the country, to raise our favorite sport popularity. I am glad to know that the decision was taken by Andrey in best of interests of CSKA team, it is very important for all of us.

Our club was always following “All for one and one for all” principle. I know that Kirilenko had a number of options to leave, and every option had its own value – in means of finances, life conditions, possibilities to win in the NBA. Therefore Andrey’s decision is even more valuable for us.

Andrey Kirilenko, CSKA forward:
During this month I considered different options, weighting out all pros and contras, and I came to the conclusion that I should finish this season with CSKA. We developed great team chemistry, the real team in the first part of the season. It would be incorrect to stop halfway. It would be unfair toward my teammates and, more importantly, toward fans. I know how many people count on me.

To play for CSKA is a great pleasure and fun, and I will do my best to win all the tournaments we are participating in. I am thankful to club’s management for patience in my difficult situation. Thank you very much to all the fans for their support! Come to our games to cheer for CSKA!

Lol, I loved AK when he first got here but he slowly wore on me. Whiner and never was the player he should have been. That ISNT Sloans fault either. It is because AK was weak minded and wanted to be numero uno. When he wasnt #1, he quit and sulked. He was fun to watch, but never earned that money.

Not surprised at all, in fact I predicted that he is going to finish this season in Russia. Hopefully he will win Euroleague, VTB league, Russian championship and come back to NBA next year. Good for Andrei. Keep in mind he is playing for free this season.

Oh yeah.,,,well if Andrey was really all about loyalty to fans and team, then he would have played a couple of years for free for the Jazz to offset his stupid oversized max deal that he stole from the jazz.

But I guess there were too many contras for that to happen.

AK's smart. He'll probably win some major mafia points by hanging with CSKA. Then in a couple of years, he ditches the basketball thing, attaches himself to the Russian political machine and ends up near the top of the Forbes 500 list right by future Prime Minister Mikhail Prokhorov. NBA paychecks be damned.

Haha, now this is creative.

I think AK only wanted to play for the Jazz, who weren't very interested, and when the other offers he received were below expectations, he made his decision.

CSKA will be Euroleague champion this year, probably. Andrei is a team by himself. It has been very enjoyable to watch him competing in Europe.

Agreed.

Plus, AK47 is one of my fav players. Yes he is overpaid but he is also underrated. Maybe he is the most underrated overpaid player.

On the other hand I didn't want him in Jazz uniform anymore for the sake of both him and the Jazz. So I am happy about his decision.

I think Andre was holding out for $9M/per and when nothing came in above the MLE, he and his agent decided to save face by having Andrei stay in Russia.
