Kobe is insane

He plays almost no defence other then a few spurts here and there .. he sticks his arm out anyone he touches gets a foul... and he's been smoking hot from the floor but seriously the teams he's been playing against have horrible perimeter defence.. Lakers Defence is about as bad as any team in the NBA right now ... no way will they beat the likes of the Rockets or Spurs playing like that they had to comeback aginst Hornets and Portland to even make it ... I wouldnt be suprized if Meta is on the juice along with Kobe... they will never test them.. to much money at stake

I don't think they can hang with a young golden state either

If he plays every game through the end of the season like the one he did tonight, all 48 minutes, 4 blocks, 8 rebounds, 47 points, 5 assists, and only 1 TO, they deserve to be in the playoffs.

Over 50% from the field, 100% on 18 FT's.

Why would we judge whether an entire team should be in the playoffs according to what one player's stats are in a few games? You people don't make any sense.

Kanter had a 20 20 game this year, so shouldn't the Jazz make the playoffs?
Millsap killed Miami one game. Shouldn't the Jazz get the championship then?

I don't know if the NBA test for PED's but Kobe is suspicious in my book. Players don't get better as they get older. He goes to Germany, has some kind of blood spinning BS, and now he's had a Barry Bonds, Lance Armstrong type of season.

How do you figure he has got better? More like he is just keep his current pace with a better shooting percentage. PEDs help with shooting?

One game! Have you been paying attention. Just look at the Lakers' last 10 games -- it's ridiculous the way they are getting calls. And Metta, that's probably right about him on PEDs -- gets an injury and supposed to be out 6 weeks, but he's back in 2. Something fishy is going on.

So are we to a point that if someone is great later in their career they must be on something?[/QUO

I wouldn't be surprised by anyone anymore. Not even Derek Jeter. The cynic in me says that Kobe is averaging more points and Rebounds at an older age. He's great, but so were Stockton, Malone, Jordan, Kareem, Shaq, etc... They never stayed or played above their peak with as many minutes as Kobe has played. He may be the exception but in todays sports I think it's a legitimate question.

I have not seen any evidence that Kobe is playing so great lately.
I have seen evidence that he is not.
One game's stats against a non-playoff team mean squat.

...agreed! Plus, you can't tell me that Wilt Chamberlain, who averaged 50 points and 20 rebounds in one season didn't put up astronomical numbers way better than Kobe did last night? PLEASE!

Lets face it.. they've more talent than we do, but as a team they're just about equals to the Jazz. Talent wise, Lakers have the edge. Team play, we've got them beat... barely. That's only a maybe.

So if two near equals go at it, and one team has a guy that's playing like that, who do you think is going to win?

It might be just me but when 40% of your points come from free throws it just loses it's luster.

But if this thread is about Kobe being an insane free throw shooter then I agree.
