Kobe possible Achilles tear!

You can't tell me Kobe didn't want to be in there. He made a guarantee that the Lakers were going to make the Playoffs and he wanted to take full responsibility. He was trying to will his team into the Playoffs, and he just might have done enough to get them there.

Dude, any competitor is going to stay in 48 minutes if you let him. Malone would have done it too if asked, so would Stockton.

I ****ing hate Kobe, and wish many a minor injury on him. This ****ing sucks though.

If D'Antoni was a better coach, they wouldn't be in this mess of trying to get into the playoffs. His brand of offense is obviously not tailored made for Dwight & Pau. And you can't tell me he teaches defense.

This is not just an issue for this game, it was a mistake to hire D'Antoni from the start. And for that you can blame Jim Buss.

I don't know that the Lakers are/were any better off with another coach. Who was even available?

Sticking with Mike Brown. At least Brown could coach defense.

Or caving in and giving Phil Jackson his home only deal. Having Jackson for half the games and home practices is better than D'Antoni full time.

I can't disagree with that. D'Antoni is strictly and offensive coach. He and the Lakers definitely have differing personalities.

Jim Buss calling the shots meant he was too proud to bring back Phil & run the show. Before hiring D'Antoni, Phil gave the Lakers a list of things that needed changing in order for Lakers to become a contender again this year. Jim wanted to be the man, so he went ahead and hired D'Antoni anyway.

Jim Buss was also behind the ridiculous trade which Lakers basically gave Odom away for free and essentially started the dominoes which resulted in Kobe being injured today.

50 to 16 free throw discrepancy. I'm amazed how the media doesn't pick up this obvious wwf officiating... Steve Blake was getting superstar calls at the end

A lot of blame to go around here:

Stern for rejecting the cp3 trade. That forced the lakers to sign Nash who is clearly on empty. Without a pg the lakers have had to play Kobe more and he has had to be a facilitator.

Buss, because he is a d bag.

Kupcheck, because he sounds like a commie. And he only signs old as hell vets.

Deantoni, because you can't play vets the way he is. Take a page out of docs or pops book. See how they treat their vets.

Karma, because why couldn't this have happened to Demarcus cousins? I'd never want to see anyone go down with his injury. But if it had to be someone, why not him? He's a waste of air. He could be kicked out of the league and nobody would notice.

Yeah, no, I saw that on Twitter. But you've got to understand though, that for the whole game the Lakers were playing inside out basketball, Gasol dumping the ball down low to Howard every 2nd plays. The other plays simply consisted of Kobe either attacking the rim or shooting fadeaway shots. GSW Tankers on the other hand were just jacking up 3pt shots all over the place - how can you get fouls called?

GSW had plenty of chances to win at the end there but Landry missed that shots.

Yeah, I really don't find the foul discrepancy to be that surprising given:

A) The Warriors don't shoot that many FT's
B) Hack-a-Howard
C) Kobe was probably going hard

I have nothing but respect for what Kobe Bryant has done for basketball and the way he approaches his craft. I am dejected, sad, frustrated that this is the way he ends his career as the Kobe we know. A sad, sad day for basketball.

I admire his competitive fire and clutch shots, but it would be a damn shame for him to end his career like that. That being said, **** the lakers anyway.

It didn't have to come to Landry's missed jumper. Steve Blake getting that phantom call (right before or right after Klay made a 3?), Dwight pushing klay (or jarett, i forgot) out of bounds, jarrett getting a defensive rebound and landing on his back and not getting the call are just a few that come to mind. Oh yeah also when Kobe tore his achillies, that's a travel, not a foul.

I only caught the last 6 minutes of the game, but it was pretty obvious the refs were pulling for LA

He could have gone down as easily the winningest player of all time had he not been such a jerk. Great player, crummy dude. I won't really miss watching him since he's a shell of his former self anyways and is the biggest reason for the phantom fouls.

Too bad we didn't shed this many tears for Memo. Maybe I'll give some respect after the jazz season is over, be I the regular season or playoffs. Maybe now that Kobe is out the Wolves won't get the Laker treatment on Monday. Kobe was and is the enemy. As a fan of the jazz I shed no tears. Someone on here even said "**** the jazz" by which I promptly meted him.

So in that spirit I say **** the Lakers, **** Stern, **** the refs, and all the sports writers giving the lakers so much fake *** credit. At the moment I have no sad sissy tears for Kobe.

I f I rub you the wrong way, I don't care! I didn't start this thread so we could all sing kumbaya for Kobe! Now I wish this thread could be deleted, and what's worse is this godforsaken thread has been stickied!!!

Hears an idea.... Let's just build him a statue next to the Stockton and Malone statues! Let's declare a Kobe Bryant day!

Sorry for the rant, but this makes me sick!

Negged man.

I hate Kobe as much as the next Jazz fan, but that doesn't mean I want to see him go out on an injury.

Can you please provide some evidence for that? I've always thought of him as a pretty classy player. Notice how he complemented Hayward's game. If he was truly a jerk/bad competitor - why would he waste his time doing that?

This is a damn shame. I'm amazed at the sentiments from Jazz fans about this, I honestly had no idea there was this much class going around.

Kobe wasn't always a consummate professional, but I don't know what more you could want from a player on and off the court than Kobe Bryant for the last 5 years. People do grow up.
