KOC Interview from Locked on Sports today

Not sure if this was in the interview or not... I haven't seen it mentioned here though, and seems a bit concerning.

(Siler tweet)

For Jazz fans eager to add a shooter, O'Connor suggested he feels DWill, C.J., Hayward and Memo can collectively fill that void.

if thats what he thinks, he needs to wake up. memo is not going to be 100% half the season, CJ is very streaky at the 3 (seen him miss many wide open threes), and hayward was not a great 3pt shooter in NCAA (although in future this could change because he has a good shooting stroke but not now). we will get very little 3pt shooting production and that will hurt the team no doubt

I don't agree with posts in this thread about Wesley. I think KOC is flat out unreadable. I hope they don't match because the deal is awful, but I didn't pick up any signals that they're unwilling to pay it. The only signals I get on that are the reports the Jazz are talking to the agents of other wings.

I totally agree here.

Did you note how KOC mentions a couple of times he's known GM's for 30+ years (Paxson, Kahn). Don't underestimate the "old guy network." Paxson did Utah a favor because he has a great working realtionship with KOC. And Kevin said maybe that comes back around down the road if Utah has a chance to return a favor.

I was impressed by two poinst:
A) KOC said they had discussed this very scenario about acquiring Jefferson a few months ago, maybe even in connection with the draft.

Now I think the McHale trip makes sense. I'll bet the Jazz had offered some package including Tomic and their #9 pick to move up to the #4. Maybe AK's expiring for Jefferson was involved as part of that discussion.

B) "Deron is a part of this organization" and he provides input on a lot of players. Explains why Deron was pretty diplomatic about what was happening. Not too much reaction to Boozer and Korver leaving, outside of wishing them well. He knew the Jefferson deal was on the front burner.

And I agree re: Matthews. Sounds like Wesley is gone. Kevin hinted there might be some additional moves happening pretty fast. I think that's signing a wing. Brewer?

Interesting stuff. Man if the Jazz had been able to trade AK for Jefferson and draft Cousins at #4. Then buy the 11th pick for NO and pick one of the following, George, Hayward, Henry, Babbit then KOC would have been executive of the year. I hope there are several more moves to make up for losing Matthews.
