To be honest, I'm not sure what Lee's mindset re PT is. Just sayin' he's a SG out there worth lookin' into; a lot like Wesley Matthews. A good fit, IMO.Us. Last season. At least until a few guys got hurt and/or benched for insubordination. Corbin was triyng to find playing time for Millsap, Favors, Jefferson, Kanter, Bell, CJ, Burks, Howard, Hayward, Harris, Watson and then a little time for Evans and Tinsley. And add in Carroll after we picked him up.
We always argue about minutes with the assumption that everyone will be healthy for 82 games. So, yes, let's trade one of the bigs for just future picks and sign whatever big we can for the vet minimum. What happens when one of them misses a few games? Were then stuck with a scrub like Elson getting 10-15 mins/per. Even worse at the wings. If Hayward, Williams or Burks gets hurt or in foul trouble, then we're stick with who? A rookie drafted at #47? EXACTLY! It's a LONG season; a deep bench will win you some games.
Contenders will have vets who are willing to play 10-15/per, maybe even have a few DNP's, but be available for more minutes if needed. Howard, Bell and Tinsley should have been those guys for us. Tinsley was, Bell griped about his reduced minutes and Corbin overplayed Howard, primarily because CJ and Raja didn't give us much and Burks just wasn't ready.
I like Courtney Lee, but I don't think he's going to accept a reduced role around 20 mins or so. And I resally like the player Humphries has become. I watched a lot of Nets basketball after the trade (cheering for NJ to lose). And I found myself hating Humphries because he'd keep getting rebounds and second-chance points. If Millsap won't re-sign, Humhpries would be a decent option. Start Favors at the 5 and Kris at the 4. When Kanter comes in, slide Favors over to PF. That's also assuming Jefferson is gone or traded at the deadline.
I do have slight concerns as to where Burks will be to start the season. Season 2 can be tough sometimes... And Marvin is iffy too; not a slam dunk for us. Time in a Jazz uni will tell...
