Korver signs with Bulls! (3 yrs/15 mil)

The Bulls are like us last year. The Stud PG, and Boozer + Korver.

The X factor is Noah. I'm curious to see how Boozer plays next to someone like that over Memo.

It's a clear choice: Korver or Matthews. Because Matthews wasn't a draft pick, we're forced to use all or part of the MLE to match an offer to him. Re-sign Korver and all Portland, or whatever other team wants Matthews has to do is offer Wesley the MLE -Korver's salary + $1.00 and we couldn't do a thing.

Matthews >>>> Korver. It was a no-brainer by KOC.

I don;t know why everyone has their panties in a wad. We got Korver for two things: hit a 3 and make FT's in the 4th quarter. Yes, he was good for a couple of 3's per game. Big freakin' deal. Let's have CJ, Matthews or Hayward take a couple of 15-ft jumpers. Oh well, we lost 2 points. Personally, I was pissed at the end of the season because it looked like he was protecting the record, passing up some good looks when we needed his scoring. And his FT percentage dropped 10%. If we need to protect a lead, Deron, Hayward, CJ and Matthews have all showed they can hit FT's. And it appears Gordon can be a better ball-handler than Kyle.

Who doesn't think Hayward can average 7 pts in 18 mins with 2 rbds, 2 assists and .5 steals? Kyle's career FG average is only 43%. I'm pretty confident Gordon can be better overall than Korver. No, he doesn't have the 3-pt shooting range Korver has. But he'll be a much better overall player.

There are simply no minutes for Kyle:

PF - Millsap (33); AK (15)
SF - AK (17); CJ (16); Hayward (15)
SG - Matthews (32); CJ (16)

exactly...

people get the idea that brewer and kirilenko are superior defenders because they are athletic and get their hands into passing lanes. The only thing they fail to remember is that defense is also played man-to-man, which neither of those guys are able to stay in front of their man. Away from the ball, they also don't stick with their man too well (especially andrei). Korver stays tight with his man, which goes unnoticed not only by the box score, but also by the fans because they never have their attention drawn to it since the tighter you play your man away from the ball, the less likely that man ever gets the ball.

troy?????

Wait, people are mad about this? Lol.

I want The Jazz to be as far under the luxury tax as possible going in to the season. That way we can either use some of our TPE's or actually take back talent in a trade for AK.

I'm actually pleased with this off-season so far. As long as we dont do anything retarded like sign Al freaking Harrington.

Yeah, Korver was gone the minute we drafted Hayward. His good performance at the camp only made decision that much more obvious. The team is in cost cutting mode, and there simply is no point to pay Korver 5 mil a year when we have Matthews, CJ, Hayward, and AK playing his position and making 28 mil (assuming Wes gets CJ Miles - like offer). Of course that means we just lost best NBA 3 point shooter that proved he can stretch defenses in addition to losing a 20-10 PF, but ... financially it just does not make sense to keep KK. I am sure KOC's big move will come soon enough though to make up for the losses. I can see it now: Jazz will match offer sheet for Fess.

Defensively it will help Boozer. Offensively he will now be covered by 2 bigs instead of a big and a wing. I think Noah's defense helps but offense hinders Boozer.

I guess this confirms that Boozer wasn't a locker room cancer like some people thought.

Maybe, maybe not... either way, I really don't think Korver 'followed' Boozer to Chicago... they made him an offer, and he had to sign somewhere. Korver was pretty clear at the end of the season that he wanted to stay here in Utah, and I believe, would have stayed for less money than the Chicago offer. Tweets from Siler indicate that the Jazz never made him an offer.

Siler tweets:

“He’s a really good friend of mine. Playing with him, especially, was a huge reason to stay, but it just never got worked out.”
about 1 hour ago via web .Korver did exchange text messages with Deron Williams after things were official with the Bulls.
about 1 hour ago via web .“....I’m very grateful and I have nothing but great memories.”
about 1 hour ago via web .“We’ve been in the playoffs a few years and obviously it was a lot better situation than I was in before...."
about 1 hour ago via web ."...I’m very grateful for the years that they gave me here, coming here and being on great teams..."
about 1 hour ago via web .“It’s tough,” Korver said of leaving. “I made a lot of great friendships. I think a whole lot of the organization from top to bottom..."
about 1 hour ago via web .Korver said he never got an offer for the Jazz but also didn't push for one, knowing the team's payroll situation.

I am telling you, this Bulls team is going to be very, very good. Rose at the point, Deng -- who is overpaid but has a tremendous mid-range game, Boozer on offense in the low-post, Noah cleaning up on defense and hustling his heart out, now you bring in Korver as a three-point specialist to spread the floor.

That's a contending team. It's all up to how Rose progresses. They didn't get James, but that won't excuse them from contending. Anything less than an Eastern Conference finals should be a big disappointment for that team.

Totally agree.

I dont mind losing Korver, but the Jazz didnt even make an offer? what are they planning to do this offseason? Sign Brewer and Jeffers and Gaines?

Why would they make him an offer. They want Mathews not Korver. If they sign Mathews then there were no minutes for Korver and signing him would have been a waste of money. I'd rather they find a way to use the TPE's for a big with that money then throw it away on a one dimensional player like Korver or Brewer.

I'm starting to think that players don't like to play with DWill.

Maybe. But it they are not the kind of players that want to play with a guy that wants to win like D-Will are they really the type of players that we want?

FWIW I think Korver would have rather stayed but the Jazz did not have interest in return.

We ain't signing Brewer. and why should the jazz do anything, we ain't going to win a title anytime soon. I've heard those are all reserved for Lebron,Wade and the other dude over the next 6 years.

hahahaha that's the best. I'm not happy that Korver is leaving, but oh well, it is what it is. Hurry and resign Matthews so everyone is happy!

Why would they make him an offer. .

Because they should atleast TRY. Like I said I dont mind losing Korver ultimately, but you are'nt even going to try?

What if Porty gives another ridiculous offer to Mathews just like they messed up with Millsap? You need to have a backup plan.

With AK playing backup 4 , we can have a rotation of Hayward/Miles/Mathews/Korver at the 2/3.

Just give him somehting and see what he says about it. After all he played for you last season.

I'll be really pissed if I see Brewer or Jeffers as the 4th wing getting 20-25 mins. I'd rather see AK as one of the wings and have Koufos or some other big backing up Millsap. Hopefully Koufos improves enough to get 10-15 mins at backup PF
