Damn...... Everyone makes him sound like the second coming of John Stokton. Let's wait and see how he does the last few games. Let's see if he can capitalize on this game. I'm rooting for him.

Weaver played a great game. It would be nice to be able to keep him next year if we could get rid of Raja. He would be another nice young peace in this rebuild.

With Price and Watson gone at the end of the season. We will have roster room to sign him.

And yes, we need to get rid of Raja Bell. Buy him out, trade him for value, trade him for a bag of doritos. I don't care. Just get rid of that cancer.

i didnt watch this game, but he seemed like a decent guy in LA game, he can make a good backup, he seems better than price, but nothing more. He isnt as good as matthews imo.

Encouraging his play is....

But if we only watch CJ in 2 games he could make a case for being an all star. Even Raja in 2 games could possibly look like a starter. Lets give this guy more time and see what kind of player he truly is.

Everyone else in the league > Raja and CJ. Everyone. That's why we're excited about this kid.

He may not be a huge impact, but anything is an upgrade at this point. Those two black holes are like bubblegum on a dam bursting at the seems.

Look! A ton of bricks and a black hole all in one.

So, Ronnie Price is > Raja and CJ? Just asking. CJ hate knows no limits.

More proof it's all about the contract.

I'm usually pro-player; but whatever comes out of the lockout, I hope they set up some guidelines for terminating contracts in the NBA like in the NFL. Perhaps they can create some sort of "scrub" classification where players who play less than "X" number of minutes and have less than "X" years of NBA experience can be cut from a team with limited financial hit to the franchise and no salary cap ramifications. It would give guys like Weaver and Cousin a better chance to move up while creating more competition from the bottom third of the talent pool in the league.

Contracts are crappy in the NBA, and they have the potential to literally cripple an entire team based on a few bad ones. Look at Memo and AK for us in the past few years. I know no one required Utah to sign them at their respective rates, but there must be a better way of making things run.

Weaver looked great, by the way, and yes, it is sad that we can bring up a D-leaguer who automatically looks better than at least 2 of the current Utah guards (Price, Bell). It was one game, and a crappy team in opposition, but he looked pretty solid out there.

I have always liked Weaver. One huge game for him or not, I've always thought he could be the best 5th guard in the league or decent backup at two positions.

However, I don't think the Jazz own his agency rights at all. He's auditioning as much for the Lakers as he is for the Jazz. I hope the Jazz find a way to keep him for a price comparable to his ideal role (as described above), but I'm skeptical. But he'd be a very nice piece to move forward with.

i don't know if the Jazz will be willing to give him contract for next year prior to the lockout, but I do think the Jazz are interested in signing him long term (at least one year or two). Like some pointed out when they signed him, it's an expensive signing for the Jazz. Because he was in the league a couple years ago he gets the 2 year player minimum as opposed to the rookie minimum. I don't know why a team eliminated from the playoffs would elect to do that if they weren't interested in taking a serious look at him and keeping him long term.
