Lakers want Bell

Lakers have $4.3 million in TPE funds. I could see them essentially buying him with the TPEs in exchange for the Jazz getting an extra salary spot and a trade piece that is easier to move (TPE is a gift card vs. a player who can only be valued as a vet/expiring contract). It's just another bit of flexibility for us that we get whether we get rid of Raja or not. But a TPE could be used now instead of at the end of the season. I would love to take a 2016 second round Laker's pick (likely 50+ value), but I would prefer cash now over a pick that is likely going to be meh at best.

I'm with Numb. Trade Bell for a moldy bologna sandwich if you have to.

Trading Bell is about the only likely situation I see for the Jazz at trading deadline. Either that or they will finally just waive him A trade with the Lakers only works if the Jazz take Steve Blake, Chris Duhon, or Jordan Hill. Hill is out for the season and like him a lot, but may be willing to trade him since the rise of Earl Clark. Steve Blake has been injured most of the year as well, but would be an upgrade as a back-up point guard next year. Duhon has been playing pretty well and is healthy, but I would rather have one of the two injured guys. If it is for Duhon, Utah would probably have to include Tinsley or Watson.

You can't combine TPEs for a single player. The Lakers don't have a TPE nearly big enough to absorb Roger's salary.

Dont know if this has been posted. But hell no!

By Nick Borges | ESPN.com Recommend0Comments2EmailPrintThe Los Angeles Lakers have an open spot and according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, head coach Mike D'Antoni is still interested in adding him to the roster. D'Antoni was Bell's head coach in Phoenix from 2005-08.

The Lakers would probably do a deal sending Chris Duhon to Utah for Bell, however the Jazz have no interest since Duhon is owed at least $1.5 million of his $3.75 million salary in 2013-14.

Bell has been exiled in Florida all season and he could be available via free agency after the trade deadline passes on Thursday. Bell will be eligible for the playoffs if Utah releases him on or before March 1.

So who wants to come with me to drive Roger to the airport?
I live in the LA area. Get him to the airport and I'll gladly pick him up. I can run to the costume shop first to rent a limo driver's uni. Just e-mail me when you have his ETA.

Seriously, all Utah wants is to not have to pay him going forward. Greggy, the Tightwad, just wanted Roger to agree to a buyout and Braille was likely adamant he be paid his full wages. So Roger just has to agree to time served, he'll be waived ASAP and the Lakers can then sign him to a vet-minimum deal. At this point in the season, the monetary difference would be negligible. It also opens up a roster spot for a 2-1 deal for Jefferson or Millsap. If Roger is waived in the next two days, expect another deal happening.

Bell hasn't been all bad. When he's healthy and has the slightest amount of rhythm he has been a useful role player. I don't know if this time off will mean he's terribly out of shape or in great shape. What I do know is that Raja is a douche and didn't deserve the opportunities he got here and I don't wish him well.
Raja was an incredible bright spot during his first stint. He and AK were two of the main reasons Utah shocked the NBA and nearly made the playoffs when most "experts" predicted <10 wins. Wasn't his fault when KOC told him to shop the market as a FA and Phoenix called with a great deal at 12:00.01. He was then hotly pursued as a FA by KOC and led to believe he'd be a valued member of the Jazz. Yes, I agree his skills had declined after the injury more than he or the Jazz had believed. But who didn't have a problem with Corbin's rotations? Nearly everyone on the team has expressed disappointment over their roles at some point, with perhaps the exception of Jefferson. Raja's downfall was that he did so loudly and publicly. Kudos to him for shouting that "the emperor has no clothes."

BTW, this is in no way an endorsement of RB. I didn't want him back on the team. But I do think the Jazz were unethical in not releasing him so he could find another team. Sure, he's being paid; but that's not the same as being able to practice your profession.

Yeah except Raja sucked, had a token starting spot in spite of this, played more minutes than he deserved (over burks mind you) and still had the audacity to complain. I'm no fan of Corbin that should be evident but this reimagining of Raja as a contributing player who merely said what we were all thinking is just false. In fact what made it ridiculous is that Corbin was already playing him more than he deserved.

I can imagine the press conference to announce the signing of Raja....

Kupchac- I am a pretty agrressive general manager. When I heard Utah needed a washing machine I looked at ours... even though we needed ours... I said I gotta pull the trigger on this.

The only way Raja gets traded to the Lakers is if the Lakers find a taker for Blake or Duhon (each of whom have an additional year and aren't good). I don't know who that is if it's not the Jazz to be totally honest and realistic.

The only thing I can come up with:

Jazz trade: Roger, Watson

Lakers trade: Steve Blake/Chris Duhon (I would choose Blake, I guess, as Duhon seems aloof), Darius Morris, rights to the better of Utah's or LA's 2nd rounder

https://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine/?tradeId=beco4ce

Jazz Trade: Raja, Marvin, Al and Millsap
Jazz Receive: Dwight Howard, Lamar Odom, Eric Bledsoe

Clippers Trade: Lamar Odom, Eric Bledsoe
Clippers Receive: Paul Millsap, Chris Duhon

Lakers Trade: Dwight Howard, Chris Duhon
Lakers Receive: Al Jefferson, Marvin Williams, Raja Bell

I think it's interesting at least. Picks might need to be involved (to the Lakers?).

Made me smile, GVC. I sent some pos rep your way.
I think the Lakers might really go for it if we just include Hayward instead of Tinsley. Oh, can you send me some of what you've been smoking?

Lakers just need to wait for Utah to make a trade. Everything being rumored right now includes more players coming to Utah than are going out. That means Raja will be waived and the Lakers can pick him up for the pro-rated vet minimum.
