what?
I'll tell you what, **** off.
You're the one person I don't feel like discussing this topic with.
what?
Not that im an expert on this sort of thing but wasn't he doing ok until he married a Kardashian?
If memory serves didn't he fall off the horse and become addicted to drugs during their marriage? I think that was around the time he tried to play for the Mavs and was just awful.
So did she help him to get back into the addiction because being married to a Kardashian sucked? Or did he get back into drugs which ruined his marriage?
Khloe, isn't that her name? She's looking in a lot better shape these days too. So I don't think it was a mutual drug addicted couple thing. He seemed to get back into drugs while she seemed to recognize the dangers and left him. Ever since then he's been in a downward spiral
Is that what happened?

wow, that's a dramatic fear of compromise. What else is going on with you??

Seriously, it's like you're hiding in the shadows waiting for Jamezz to post something. No I'm not going to send you any nude pics.
Only he would know, and in any event he's who've always had the last say in where his life was heading to. Yes the surroundings and people you hang around with can be a factor but at the end of the day you choose what to do and who to do it with.
I agree. I just curious what really happened. What (if anything) triggered his relapse? I don't understand addiction too well. But I'd like to learn more about this sort of thing not because I'd ever want to experience it but because it's fascinating to me how strong addiction can really be.
You've never been addicted to anything? I think that some people have a higher tendency (genetics, social conditioning...) to get addicted to stuff than others, in order to get their mind away from more important life issues. People that tend to get addicted to certain things easier than others find that a way to get out of it is by setting a routine of healthier things to do and committing to it.
So you've fallen headfirst into the trap of correlationism. And then added a liberal twist ('the individual's right to dream'). OK.
Since we're gettin real with one another: I do remember very clearly that it was you who started cracking personal jokes at my expense. I know you've recently gotten comfortable in this victim role (like I'm coming after you), but that's the way it happened.
But that's neither here nor there. I disagree with your values, and I've trained myself to have specific discussions about why they're wrong-footed. We probably won't have those discussions. But it'll be hard for me not to knock you off your dreamy high horse when you get up on it.
If you aren't going after people, what are you doing?

YesIf I were would I know it?
If I knew it would I admit to it?

Not even remotely close.
There were a large number of other contributing factors. A seriously shocking number of people close to Odom died in the last few years, including an infant child and his best friend. It's been pretty clear that their marriage effectively ended due to Odom's drug addiction.
There does not seem to be a colorable argument that Khloe is responsible in any real way.
Well, he was married to her in 2009 so... I would think that yes, yes there is. I don't agree with that narrative, but can see how other's think the circus show added more than he could handle with his demons growing up.
...Odom welcomed the opportunity to do the show — and the public scrutiny. Knowing his attention and effort sometimes flagged over the course of the season, he hoped the show would help hold him accountable. Even a mini-slump would raise questions about his priorities.
“That’s almost like the added incentive a little bit,” Odom said. “I’ll make sure I remain sharp and stay in the gym, but basketball is basketball. I won’t tire myself out. Of course, if I don’t play well, it’s easy to take a shot at me.”
There was little reason to do so that season, among the finest of Odom’s career. A 6-foot-10 power forward, he set career highs in shooting and 3-point shooting percentage and averaged 14.4 points, 8.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists, contributions that earned him the N.B.A.’s Sixth Man Award.
He did not anticipate what was next.
“When he got traded from the Lakers, I think he took that hard,” said the former N.B.A. player Speedy Claxton, a high school teammate. “He really liked it in L.A. He felt like he had a family there, with the Kardashians. I think that was kind of the start of it, when everything went bad.”
...Barkley, the former high school teammate, said: “The attention didn’t bother Lamar. It didn’t go to his head. He was always the same person.”
Yet Barkley — a product of public housing, the youngest of nine children — knew that Odom was dealing with tougher circumstances than most. Odom’s father was largely absent. His mother died of cancer when he was 12, and he then lived with his grandmother. It was no secret to Barkley how Odom coped with adversity.
“Basketball, man,” Barkley said. “Basketball. Basketball was his therapy.”
...Selected by the Los Angeles Clippers with the fourth overall pick in 1999, Odom twice violated the league’s drug policy in his first four seasons. Then, in June 2006, his 6-month-old son, Jayden, died of sudden infant death syndrome in New York while Odom was home to attend the funeral of an aunt. (He has two other children from a previous relationship.)
Barkley, who was a first-round pick of the Portland Trail Blazers, wound up spending much of his career overseas. But he and Odom would occasionally reconnect in New York. Odom, Barkley said, always seemed elated to see Barkley’s mother, Shirley, a pastor at God’s Divine Prayer Tabernacle in Brooklyn. Odom would ask her to lay her hands on him and pray for him.
By then, Odom had found a home with the Lakers, fulfilling many of the expectations that had trailed him since high school. But he also seemed to sense that he was vulnerable, too.
A Crushing Trade
When the Lakers traded Odom to the Dallas Mavericks in December 2011, many of those who knew him best feared for his mental health.
“Being with the Lakers meant everything to Lamar,” Charles said, “and Lamar is a very sensitive young man. When he was traded, I said, ‘Oh, my God, you just crushed that kid.’ Like, if you know him, you knew how much it meant for him to be with the Lakers.”
