I dont listen to the radio like at all, but I kept hearing about this Macklemore guy. Happened to accidentally hear "Thrift Shop" the other day and god damn that tune has a catchy hook. Macklemore is a god awful terrible rapper with no flow, but damn that hook, that hook is catchy. Song is pretty tolerable, but Macklemore sucks balls.
Jump off a cliff into a pit filled with rotting scrotums.
(I was a Macklemore fan before he became famous.)
Gonna have to agree with Hartsock on this one. It was hard to listen to that song all the way through. First time I've ever heard this dude, but definitely not a fan.I dont listen to the radio like at all, but I kept hearing about this Macklemore guy. So you liked him when he just sucked at rapping and didnt have a catchy chorus to go with it?
There's a reason The Heist hit number one on iTunes nearly immediately as an independent and started out number 2 on the Billboard 200 in it's first week. Thrift Shop was the latest single released; he had plenty of success before this playful song hit your radar. I've never seen an independent reach the successes he has. Not even Tech 9 in many respects.
I get the feeling your snickering is based on hearing a single song from a funny *** dude who has fun with life. Macklemore has a refreshingly new style and talks about other **** than hoes, AK47's and money he's blown, and is a helluva lot more than a voice with no brain who's only claim to fame is Jay-Z bought him a few million dollar tracks that someone else created.
You don't have to like him but his rapping is not as bad as you think:

Just as bad as I thought actually. That song is beyond mediocre ... and who are you referring to in the bolded part?
Mediocre? Okay.
You got it all wrong anyway. Macklemore takes that underground "real" hip-hop, storytelling style and puts listenable music with a lot of texture behind it. He's no Mos Def of Nas, not even close. Then again, if either of them could make music like Macklemore and Ryan Lewis then people would listen to them again too.
I'll take Mack over underground garage beats with great rappers or great beats with garbage rappers (like Drake) all day long.
Aesop is the best? Gott in Himmel.
Mos and Lupe blow that clown out of the water, and it is not even close. I cannot believe you can listen to that Aesop track, and then listen to Mos tracks and consider them "overrated'.
Sigh.
Here is what will always separate a musician of Def's calibre with some lollipop rapper like Ae$$sOp:

And if you really think that ***-hop can even sniff the cadence and flow of Bey, then I do not know what to tell you.
Confirm me, frank.
