What's new

Last good song you listened to?

Mars Volta hasn't been good since their first album.

Pretty common sentiment-- but keep in mind that Flea played for most of that album, and he's gonna be coming back for this new group of theirs. Why do yu like the first album more than the rest?

Had super low expectations listening to that song, it was pretty much what I thought it would be.

I is curious as to what you mean by this. I am admittedly very un-knowledged in the realm of 'rock', particularly rock from the 2000s onwards.

Personally I've enjoyed most albums by The Mars Volta, and I enjoyed Bosnian Rainbows.

The singer/guitarist combo of Mars Volta have always had a propensity for self-indulgence in their music that I find extremely annoying. That is still apparent on "Deloused..." but they also made really good music that at the time was extremely unique. It was "progressive" yet still raw and didn't feel overproduced or too technical. Then I felt like with each passing record their sound just got more clean, so all they left me was the annoying self-indulgent progressive side, the vocals and instrumentation got cleaner.

When I heard that new song you posted I had to Google to make sure it was even the original singer. Dude sounds so different and his voice has lost what made it unique. I expected it would be something cleaner, and when I saw the song length I was kind of hopeful it would be something more high energy, but it wasn't. Not a horrible song by any means or anything, but just bland to me.

Link to it, yo. Show me the light. Def willing to dabble.

Well I lied when I said it was most recent, but probably my favorite album he has ever done has been under the name "Ty Segall Band" w/ the album "Slaughterhouse". If you like his music, their is a TON of it. He is probably the most prolific musician in rock music at this point with how many releases he is a part of per year, either in his solo stuff or collaborative efforts.

I saw E-40 over the weekend and they played Iggy's Fancy during the intermission. Good beat to dance too. That video though.
