There was a Nashville punk band named Diarrhea Planet who he had open one of his shows. The have 4 guitarists plus a bassist, but they felt they needed more guitarists, so they called Isbell, his guitarist, and Sturgill Simpson up on stage to jam with them.

Prefer Axl Rose and Eternal Cowboy but they have been remarkably consistent in putting out solid records.
