Apart from the funky themes, the actual music in the two videos are also very similar. Though it's not surprising to me, since there are pretty strong musical cultures that influenced each other in those regions in the Anatolian-Israeli-Persian triangle. And I do like the most of the ethnic-folk music coming from those lands. However it gets too much Arabesque for my taste when you go more south and too Hindu when you go more East from that triangle.
