last night at the bowling alley...

in between turns, checking out the telly to see the end of a close Bulls game against Philadelphia, I had the following conversation with a middle-age guy from another team:

Len: Close game...
me: yeah...
Len: that Tyrone Corbin isn't doing nothin' for the Bulls
me: huh?
Len: Tyrone Corbin, he hasn't made a basket yet
me: WHO???
Len: Tyrone Corbin, the guy who shoots all those 3 pointers
me: Tyrone Corbin?
Len: yeah...
me: Tyrone Corbin is the coach of the Utah Jazz, he hasn't played in years
Len: oh, well whatever his name is, number 25, the one who's s'posed to be a good shooter (then he points to the player on the screen)
me: that's Kyle Korver
Len: oh, well that's who I meant
me: he used to play for the Jazz
Len: oh, I guess that's why I got confused...

now granted, Kyle Korver picked up a nice deep tan over the all star break (sprayed on perhaps) but he's still nowhere near as dark as Tyrone Corbin. How the heck Len picked Tyrone Corbin's name out of the air and mixed him up with Kyle Korver is beyond me.

and keep in mind, I'm in Chicago - Tyrone Corbin is not exactly a household name around here. It seemed like such an odd, random connection that it struck me funny. Aside from the very major differences in their appearance ;-)

Scat, I'd like to believe that way too, but I always think that the alcohol is a great mystery-solver in most of the cases. Dont know if he had some beer etc that night though.
