Lauri Markkanen Hype & Appreciation Thread

Jazz front office should take a look to Finnish NT roster, and with the light of all their future picks look to a certain Miro Little.

There is a lot to look into Finnish roster, but sadly some of them retired/are retiring. The point is that current Lauri never prevailed without his teammates. In the past no player did that either.

I don’t know the math but if he keeps on this pace he’s probably going to average 27-28 points with 52/42/87 numbers. How many players are putting up these numbers?
Lauri plays for a tanking team so nobody gives a flying **** about his numbers. That's how it goes.

"Hey, I guess somebody needs to score even on trash teams."

The "good player on a bad team" analogy doesnt work for Markkanen for his effectiveness and undeniable starter quality.

That analogy relies on an average player getting increased minutes, usage and touches since there are no better options.

I agree, but it doesn't matter what we think. It's about perception. And perceptions change quickly in this league.

The Jazz haven't been overtly tanking so far, so the narrative of Lauri as a winning player keeping his team afloat has been strong. But if we start heading to the bottom, he'll go from hero to "empty stats guy racking up points on a trash team" in the blink of an eye.

Well this is a narrative driven league so you could be right. Wouldnt declare it like that though.. as I think a lot of inside guys have put Lauri on a pedestal. For instance ESPN and Nba.com writers and analysts seem to love him.

Add in the fact that we are losing but extremely competitive and the bad team analogy doesn't hold weight as well. Right now we are just really good at losing close games which is great. It is funny because at the beginning of the season it was the opposite and we were winning every close game and extremely clutch.

Maybe hardy should pull his head out of his *** then.
